As just a practical matter, don’t the meet officials check the shoes before you start jumping? At many of my daughter’s HS meets they used to inspect the athletes spikes to be sure they were within the rules, and those were just HS meets.
No one has ever been checked for shoe type, just spike length. I have been through many spike checks and no one has ever try to confirm what type of shoe you are wearing. You see plenty of people jumping in sprint shoes or all around shoes.
Please just with stop the cheapshot/clickbait . It is juvenile, makes you look like a Luddite, and is just a plain bad look. You know exactly what I referring to here, so please don't play the innocent.
Do better, please. You can do it, just try.
rojo says: tryin takes effort and us brojos aint about no effort. the only effort I am into is making sure that I gets my hourly naps and plenty of TV watching
didn't some NIke athletes use cheater shoes (prototypes - that were not available to the public) in the US Olympic Trials in 1996 and then the Olympics? Why has World Athletics never done anything about that?

The top level athletes all have access to shoes that are not released to the public. They may look similar but they are different.
Nike was literally founded by a guy trying to make better shoes for his runners not available to anyone else. Rojo however counts all Pre's PBs set in cheater shoes.
This was probably a crusade initiated by the other long jumpers to get her out on a technicality as they all realize how stupid and weak they would look competing against her, like the other women's triple jump "competitors" do

The more attention to these 2 events the better. Rojas brings the eyeballs so it would benefit all other jumpers to have her in the event.
If marks are adjusted (altitude, track type) for NCAA qualifying, why not adjustment for
these TJ shoes. If her mark qualified for WCh by 20 centimeters, penalize her 10 or 15cm for the TJ shoes, but accept it as 'qualifying'. Don't they want the best LJers for the world's fans
to watch on TV?.. I sure do. I need the entertainment.

She's coached by Iván Pedroso too, who's the absolute GOAT, so there's no doubt in my mind that, if she fully focused on the long jump, she would dominate.
Wise words, but keep in mind that you're addressing the person who delivered this news item in a recent podcast:
"...Christian Coleman ran well [in the NYC Grand Prix], first sub-10 since his drug ban...."
It's unclear what, if anything, is being implied here, but the phrasing "his drug ban" could prompt someone unfamiliar with his case to believe a failed drug test was at issue. Whether or not "his drug ban" and "cheater shoes" are acceptable journalistic shorthand, I couldn't say, but I would accept JG's counsel on the matter.

yes the articles state there was someone there to check and they approved her shoes. They either didn't know about the rule change or didnt notice the violation.

Jim Thorpe won the Olympic decathlon with shoes pulled out of a garbage can. Maybe they should just have a barrel of shoes and the athletes can choose which ones to wear, in honor of Jim Thorpe.
