Personally I love the mystery of Rupp. I miss the days wondering how training was going for a particular athlete building up to a big race. I also love that he’s not slinging fit tea on instagram like everyone else. The sport is more exciting with athletes like Rupp. Not to mention he is the best in the US which adds an exclamation to the mystery. Takes a sicko not to have social media in todays world, all the power to him
Rupp is entering the Bekele-esque twilight phase of his career. He still could pop a good one on the right day but the odds are against it. But he has Olympic hardware and nothing to prove to anyone at this point.
i wonder if he hasn't been running any tune ups because he has been disappointed with his 10k results the past couple years. Kipchoge doesn't really race any other distances at this point. probably a good reason for that too
Apart from Rupp, what other Americans in track and field have MULTIPLE Olympic medals (non-relay)? That certainly can't be a very long list and I would love to see it if anyone has one handy.
"Everyone else" is slinging Fit Tea on Instagram? I wasn't aware of that. I assume there must be some runners doing that, but I'm reasonably sure it's not all of them (minus Rupp of course). But even if it were true, could you blame them? The typical runner trying to make it as a pro makes less than a school bus driver. If Fit Tea offers them $30 and a free water bottle to rep their product, of course they're going to jump at the opportunity. The point being, it's easy not to "sell out" if you don't need the money.
Rupp has always been well taken care of by Nike. He hasn't needed to scrape to make ends meet.
Galen Rupp dealt with a herniated disc and mild case of Covid made his buildup rockier than usual, but the two-time Olympic medalist is feeling good ahead of Worlds.
I'm not interested in athletes from a disgraced program, except to ask the only real questio: who is now prescribing his thyroid boosters and "testosterone medication"?

Why the outrage about thyroid meds? The WADA rules have never regulated them. Nobody, including Rupp, needs a TUE to take thyroid meds.
Maybe thyroid meds should be banned, but until they are, how can you criticize Rupp for doing what the rules allow?
