Hunter Hill is never returning, he moved to Idaho. Blake Bullard is also a softmore. Please get your facts right Mr. Lay.
Southlake Carroll seems like a good school to get transfers from if a weak team or a team who has a great 1-4 but doesn’t have a #5 is looking for someone.
cause if a transfer leaves, SLC always finds people to replace them
*15:22 is Hunter Hill’s 5k pr so they definitely will feel that but with such a deep class and tons of ambition plenty of big things are coming for sure.
My question is on the Varsity Girl's 2-mile race, a team called Salado ran all of the following times:
Zoie Adcox 10:43.4 (10th grade)
Penelope Anderson 10:54.6 (10th grade)
Alexa Williams 11:02.8 (10th grade)
Ally Ihler 11:11.4 (10th grade)
Anna Redelsheimer 11:27.9 (10th grade)
Evelyn Wickert 11:34.6 (12th grade)
Ellie Mescher 11:39.4 (12th grade)
Reese Lange 11:45.1 (9th grade)
Cassie Vargas 11:48.3 (10th grade)
*not to mention, an 8th grade, Asah Roy won the race in 10:38
1st of all - The times seem really quick. In the girl's 5k race, Isabel won in 17:38.7
2nd of all - I have never heard of Salado, but I did some digging and they finished around 6th place in the 4A division.
I'm questioning the course, and these results. This would put them above or around a team like Southlake Carroll. Not to mention, that is an exceptionally fast time to win, for an 8th grader.
That would be an absolute shocker. An unknown 4A team comes out of the woodwork and beats the top teams (FM/SLC)?
Scratch this post.
I am almost 95% certain now that for whatever reason, the 2-mile race was short. Perhaps by 1:00 - 1:30 minutes.
Stony Point’s Flowers was running in the 18s last year. This year he ran in the 15s. They got a great top 3 but if their 4-5 put it together they could go to state.
Carroll needs a number 5. Maybe that could be Karthik (last year’s 4th guy) who has been missing all year? If he doesn’t return…2 of their guys between 5-7 were varsity last year so there is no reason to not have at least one of them catch to their #4 since their numbers 3-4 were mid pack JV last year. Carroll still missing Fisher, Alvarez and Golomb. Remember that Hunter Hill is in Idaho now. Freeman and Ortiz moved down on the team from last year. They do have some youngsters stepped up which bodes well for the future. Either way, I think it’s silly to think that they are better than Jesuit LA. This team is 8-deep and no one graduated last year, so if one guy is out it won’t hurt them much. Flower mound girls might wanna make sure their 4/5 are together

I don't think Carroll needs to worry about a #5, they are so deep anyone in the top 12 could be there end of season. Carroll will have one of the lowest spreads. Logan killing it a true run from the front sub 15 talent. Blake talented too, but is he going back to swimming again as state ranked freestyler. Caden slotted in already as a Freshman, you have to think great upside.
I agree Jesuit the regional team to beat until we see otherwise.
Flower Mound girls showed out today. They had their top 3 and then #4 Spangher and #5 Cole step up. Their depth drops off fast, but you only need 5. Don't read too much into the Flower Mound Open Varsity win, they only had 6 in Elite while Southlake had 11.

Oh sorry, I meant Coppell is the team that needs a 5, not Carroll.
But yeah Carroll doesn’t need to worry about their 5 or even their 6,7,8, or 9th ever

Jack Litwin finished 6th on the team today. I'm going to guess that he had a bad race, given that a 9:31 opener tells me he's much better than a 16:18. Fisher didn't race this time, but he did the previous race. So we can assume he should be back.
Alvarez/Golomb: no idea. Could be injured or something else. Or maybe they'll run later this season.
It's only a season opener (for 5k anyways).
As far as Jesuit LA goes, no idea how good they are and who's around until they race. They should be good given they returned everyone, but things happen to runners, so we'll see if they have a healthy squad first and foremost.
For those not there, the racing at the Marcus Coach T Invitational was really good upfront for both the girls and boys.
Shewaye Johnson ran from the front the entire way and Samantha was right with her until the last mile. At the 2 mile mark Macy Wingard, Nicole Humphries, and Alexandra Walsh were just being gapped a little.
The boys race had a nice pack of 8 still at the 2 mile, it then came down to a gritty last mile.

At this year’s time trial, Jesuit had 6 guys faster than their #1 time from 2021. They are dealing with a few injuries at the moment though.

This is why it’s important that this team is 8-deep this year (at least). Better than having a 5-deep team
It seems that Southlake Carroll would still win state and make NXN without Bullard or Fisher, or without any guys who are sitting out. Because without them, Freeman and Ortiz would still only be their 6th and 7th runners. They were ranked higher on the team last year than this year. It’s just that lots of people who weren’t varsity last year are jumping in and getting the spots.
it’s gonna be tough for this team to get top 10 at NXN though.
