The woodlands found not just a 5th but a 6th, 7th and an 8th as well

Southlake Girls lost by a little to 5A Lucas Lovejoy, but they were without their #1, that hurt 30 points.
Prosper has it all but wrapped up.
Hunter hill result
Rocky was missing one or their scorers Keith U
It seems like Southlake Carroll’s 1-5 should all stay on varsity for the rest of the season.
Good to see Freeman at #3 which is where he was last year I believe. He didn’t do track.
Fisher (last year’s #1 guy) was their 13th guy in this race. He scored at the 2 mile in august.
Troutman (#2 guy last meet) was their 9th here. Not sure what happened to him here.
Litwin was their #2 at the 2 mile in august. Here he didn’t make varsity
Golomb ran a 9:32 in track. I thought he was gonna score for them this year but I guess there isn’t much time left since he just came back.
Seems like a lot of Southlake’s key runners could be left out of varsity.
Still consistently running about 20-30 seconds back of teammates.
Hunter Hill that is.
Seems like all these guys I bolded, if healthy, are much more crucial to the varsity team this year than their 6th and 7th from last race (Ortiz and Cords. I don’t think they ever scored for them this year. Maybe Ortiz is somewhat crucial because he scored for them last year, but I think this is the first time that Cords made their top 7).
This depth also goes to show that losing Hunter hill didn’t hurt them at all. If he was still there, the decision of who to put on varsity would have been even harder for the coach.
And notice how many of those guys will be back next year and the year after that.
Could they finally pull through and win a national title at some point? They got 2nd at NXN in 2011
Wouldn’t be surprised if Hill was pacing Lucas to make him a better 5th man for future races especially NXR (and N if they make it). If that was true, it’s a good sign of leadership
Coppell needs to find a 5th man to beat the Woodlands
Girls MS Rankings
https://www.milesplit.com/rankings/flo50/1493/5160
Flower Mound, Southlake Carroll and Lovejoy are ranked well
Lovejoy beat Southlake at Chile Pepper, but it was close and Southlake was without their #1 Alexandra Walsh. Southlake would have won by 20 points. I would give it to Lovejoy in rankings though as you never know if this will be a trend with Alexandra. Milesplit put Flower Mound and Lovejoy back ahead of Southlake.
Boys rankings are the most accurate they have been this year. Coppell needs to close the 4-5 gap if they want to beat the woodlands
These rankings suck ass.
Also, there is a severe lack of Houston awareness on this thread.
Vandegrift"s program js one of the most overrated in the state every year. They tend to Starr out all world and slowly choke since they're run by not 1 but now 2 private coaches (one of which whose dad is a former well known Texas HS Coach.)
They got several transfers because of the openness to outside coaching....yet they'll falter again. Girls are already coming back to earth. Boys finished 4th in their last race.
I remember Sanchez saying in an interview that he thinks Vandegrift will make NXN. But in reality there is no way they even make podium this year at state.
but they made state for the first time last year so that’s good.
They need to close the 4-5 gap.
Vandegrift got transfers? I didn’t know that. All of their boys top 5 have always been at that school. One of those guys is a freshman. for their 5th this is his first year on varsity
Transfers have to sit a year.
Woodlands is back to needing a 5th runner.

Woodlands AND Coppell need a 5th actually. Vandegrift is working diligently on getting one, but besides Sanchez I don’t see them going anywhere this year anyways, other than placing higher than last year at state
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
