Actually, at this point, Newbury Park girls team will never be a national caliber team anymore
It may turn out to be so but it's tough speculating about the future. All we know right now is Sean Brosnan has left and his wife Tanya and Steve Hawkins are interim coaches. NP will hire a full time coach. The future depends in part of who the new coach will be, whether he/she will be dynamic, resourceful, knowledgable, or not. The odds are probably against this coach being someone who can lead NP back to national prominence on both the girls and boys side. We shall see...
Would be interesting to see if Jesuit CA can bounce back. They return 4 guys including 2 sub-9:20 guys from their top 7.
Maybe someone really good will transfer in which is what happens almost every year at Jesuit.
Lange is a great coach and people transfer in because they hear great things about him.
Two other schools named Jesuit are 2nd and 3rd nationally. Maybe this Jesuit CA school can join the top 30.
Other contenders to be near that top spots in the state or could qualify for footlocker- Alex Lamoreaux(4:11 pb) and the Granada HS Boys team, ncs is pretty stacked this year.
NCS Has lots of individuals and team’s that should be making a splash in the state scene.
In the girls Los Altos Hills will surprise a lot of people this fall. Led by L. Soobrian. Lil Soobrian went from 5:40’s 1600 to 5:00 flat this past spring as a freshman.
It’s Los Altos HS. There is no Hills in that HS.
Great Oak will be top 3 in the nation unless Jesuit Oregon finds a number 5
So Cal has their divisions like a month ago, those of us in SJS still don't know what division we will compete in this year until after our first two meets.
Meeting of Marauders is coming up on August 13th. This is a time trial for the Jesuit CA team
Davis sounds like an interesting team. They return 2 sub-16 guys, a 9:55, a 10:08, and a 4:39, and a 10:28.
Meeting of the Marauders.
Reynolds did not finish as high as expected based on his 4:26/9:36, but their #5 was a freshman.
Maybe they will both work together to try to close the gap on #3.
I foresee Reynolds gradually working on translating his track times to CC times, and Abbott gradually trying to get used to 5K and 3 miles. Maybe that 3-5 gap will be closed at the end of the season.
Only 4 seniors on the team total. 2 on varsity. And only one senior looking to be in their top 7 next year.
Was any of their top runners missing or is this everyone?
It looks like all of the Jesuit’s varsity runners raced
Buchanan girls obliterate. Almost a perfect score. 2 seniors in top 7.
Clovis boys solid through 4. Needs a 5th
Also, next Clovis East returns everyone that raced in the varsity race including their low stick Spralding. Buchanan boys team never seems to be on par with their girls team
Yosemite has 4 sophs in their top 5. They seem to be turning into a team that can beat Newbury Park and go to NXN in 2024
