Griner steadfastly maintains that she is being wrongfully/Illegally detained, but many are wondering if she can get a fair trial? According to most of the tweets on twitter there is no credibility whatsoever to the charges, but the people on twitter are unconfident about her getting a fair trial in Russia, especially with the Russia VS Ukraine situation. CNN did say they are sending reporters to cover the Trial which is good so that if it is unfair, Everyone will know it. Of course Griner is going to say that she is wrongfully/illegally detained. The fact is she entered Russia, a place she has been to many times as she plays in their professional league, with vape cartridges that contained hash oil. That is an illegal drug in Russia. What did she think was going to happen?
An exchange for Viktor Bout? Seriously? She is no way as important as he is. Not a fair trade at all. There are other Americans detained in Russia for much longer. Why not try to get them out?

Obviously, she’s being used as a political pawn by Russia. There is no way we know for sure what was in her vape cartridges. There is a high probability the Russian government planted or lied about the content of those cartridges. Look at the length of detention before her trial, for a supposedly minor weed oil bust. No way she gets a fair trial from a country who is currently bombing civilians in a neighboring country. We are talking about one of the most evil and corrupt countries in the world here.

The problem is that everything seems uncertain. While 1 year might not too bad, she could do up to 10 years, which is ludicrous for having 2 illegal drug items that are likely meant for personal use.
It's interesting that she seems to have popularity in Russia, maybe their govt is making a personal example out of her.

Why not just throw her out of the country? She didn't commit a crime where someone was harmed, she didn't steal or deface property, she didn't insult Russia. Expel her, take away her ability to work in Russia or ever return.

In fact, when people talk about Russia just being a gas station, they forget that Russia is actually a big innovator in recreational drugs with krokodil being one of its more famous exports. And look no further than Russian athletics if you want to see how concerned the Russian government is about illegal drugs.
Russia's national drug enforcement policies have been more about using drug interdiction to go after enemies and the poor. Russia has had a huge heroine problem. Weed oil is the last thing of concern for Russian drug enforcement. In fact, small quantities of weed are without criminal possession penalties in Russia. Griner is only getting hit because she was caught at the airport. And if you think that was just a coincidence, you are a fool.

Foreign press will not be allowed on the courtroom.
There is a higher probability of Shaq hitting 100 consecutive free throws than of her being found innocent.
