leading every race and running on the outside of the lane all the way is harder than it needs to be. She should try running 800. She even does it in the 400. I don't get it.
I was just coming here to comment on this, since I just watched the race again.
Why does Mu always run so far out in lane 1? She’s nowhere close to the rail. If someone is close to her and feeling good, they could pass her on the inside, which would be a huge tactical mistake in Mu’s part.
Have any of the reporters/podcasts asked her about this?

Yeah, the "Hobby Athletes question Olympic Medalist" podcast covered this already. Mu said, and I quote, "I figured I'd run out in the middle of the lane so that some guy who couldn't come close to me over 400m would have something to discuss on the messageboards."

Mu has always run far out in lane one. She has never said why. She is so talented that so far she has been getting away with it. Which still doesn't make it a good idea.
I doubt Mu will change until it costs her a race one day and she learns the hard way. Until then it will be the outside of lane one for Mu.
It will take 1:56 to medal at worlds. My predictions:
🥇 Athing Mu 🇺🇸
🥈 Mary Moraa 🇰🇪
🥉 Rosemary Almanza 🇨🇺
Do my predictions still sound crazy to all of you how downvoted?
I think this discussion thread is indicative of our collective excitement. Moraa in Stockholm (and Kenya) has really thrown a wildcard into the mix. The WC final will be one of the most anticipated races of the event. Just MAKING the final could bring some surprises. Watching Agee Wilson in the NC meet was scintillating, just gave me goosebumps as I've always been a fan. But we should not count Hodgkinson out of the medals. Wow what a final this will be! (To heck with the men's 200)
