Agreed, my main takeaway from watching the race is that Schweizer finishing 4th was extremely impressive and I wish more 5k/10k runners would participate in 1500s.
Karissa Schweizer should be ashamed. I’ve never seen a race where somebody intentionally bumped, elbowed, and cutoff other runners as much as she just did. She nearly took out both Cory McGee and Elle St. Purrier at various points. Absolutely despicable performance.
Lol St. Purrier is a good way to combine her current and former last name.
No doubt the best three won, and Johnson was dominant (don't know why LR characterized it as a close race). =
When did we say it was a close race? Before we published our recap, I went in and made sure we changed things to emphasize how dominant she was. Here is what it says.
Women’s 1500: Sinclaire Johnson crushes it Sinclaire Johnson left no doubt as to who is the best women’s 1500-meter runner in America on Saturday afternoon.
I put she CRUSHED the field on the front page as well.
Now, as for the topic of this thread. I almost deleted it as it's so stupid adn it's the type of thread pros complain about. But I believe in free expression and decided to let the 70 negative down votes on the first post speak for itself.
Schweizer raced a tactical 1500. She's not supposed to not race out of fear that if she does race a 'better' 1500 runner falls down and doesn't make Worlds. Under the rules, if someone does fall, USATF can always rerun the race (although they have never done so).
Yeah, sorry...but there were no issues in that race from Schweizer. She was aggressive in getting off the rail...which is what every successful runner has to do. You could pick out multiple times in that race where other runners did the exact same thing - including St Pierre - as you could do in virtually every high level 1500 meter race.
As for the multiple race issues...those may even be a sillier comment. She qualified to run the race...why would you not. This is an individual sport, and these athletes get paid by performing and by exposure. She had the talent to be there, and the desire to do so. If other runners don't like it, I would suggest it is because they couldn't beat her.

Last week I brought up the issue of why don't ANY track athletes wear shin guards. And I got roundly rebuffed for bringing it up as essential equipment.
Care to revisit that issue. If protecting one's space is important (and it is) then why won't you numb nuts invest in a pair? And get some shin guards while you're at it.
Christ Almighty, why am I the only true visionary on here?
What do you expect, she is a bratty runner. Distance doubling at champs is selfish, as is the way she sat on Monson at the 10k trials.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should - Klecker quoting Ritz on the Coffee Club podcast. The US is so deep, why take the spot of someone just as deserving, when that could be their one opportunity. Why not just put all your energy and focus into one race at the champs and give yourself the best chance to perform.
Lol. If you're a 1500 specialist and you can't beat a 10000m runner in a sit and kick then you don't deserve to be on a national team over that person.
^This is what I meant. She nearly took out St. Pierre and McGee, who are both clearly deserving of being in the team. It was very selfish running and she nearly weakened the US team by racing the way she did.

This is the most luke warm of takes.
LetsRun posters "BTC doesn't race enough!"
also LetsRun posters "BTC is racing too much, they're taking other peoples spots!"
Running at the elite level is a selfish pursuit. The idea that you shouldn't double/enter another event because you want to "give someone else a chance" is absolutely not a thing, regardless of what OAC says. If you're just as deserving, you'll qualify by beating the athlete who is running multiple races. If you can't, you're not good enough to go (and therefore not as deserving).

I had no idea that AOC is now airing opinions on track. I wonder if she has a track background l.
If someone gets taken out by a 95-pounder then THAT person should be ashamed.
The person getting taken out likely is another 95 pounder...(Not saying she was racing dirty just pointing out what seems pretty obvious).
Are we talking about the 15? I re watched it, didnt see KS touch anyone, esp in the last 200? The last 200 was KS being over taken wide, and no argy bargy whatsoever?

I wrote OAC - as you can see in the quoted post. Freudian? AOC on your mind?
You're obviously the op agreeing with yourself under a different handle lol. Anyways I just rewatched the race. At 300 to go as Corey tries to pass karissa actually tucks her arms in closer to herself while speeding up. That's about as can as can be.
