Cole Hocker invited criticism by showing no class after being eliminated. Why didn’t Hocker just explain to the media that he’s been injured?
He’s undoubtedly been focusing on this year’s WC since the end of the Olympics and was devastated to get eliminated in a heat. You act like it wasn’t a big deal. You’ve never been an elite athlete in that situation so how do you know what your reaction would be if you were him? After Rod Dixon finished 4th in 1976 Olympic 5000m, he went back to his hotel room and cried. Why did Hocker need to do an interview immediately the race that would have undoubtedly included some moronic questions?
Agree here.
If you were to run 70-80 mpw, eat a clean diet, and dedicate your life year round to this one race, have everyone expect you to be the best in the country and one of the best in the world, and then absolutely fall apart, how would you feel? Would you feel like talking to everyone on TV just minutes after all of this happened?
I didn’t want to talk to ANYBODY about it for weeks after I was injured and not able to compete at indoor conf. which I was shaping up to have a decent chance to place and maybe win, and no one but members of the athletic conference really care all that much about who wins a mid-major conference championship.
Cole Hocker is only like half a year older than me. He’s still a kid. And he’s already better tactically and overall than Fauble will ever be. Embarrassing take by Fauble.
Takes more than one race to be world class. He needs the hardware before you guys have the backing to your claims of his world level
Idiotic take. 3:31, 6th at the Olympics, ran right with Tim C & Kipsang at Pre is absolutely world class. No you do not need to win a medal to be considered world class.
I share Scott’s sentiment. When’s the last time we saw a bunch of Americans in the Diamond League 1500, other than when it showed up in their backyard?
You glorify him from last year to make excuses for his abysmal running this year. Weak. Just like American distance running. Excuses and nonsense.
Who makes excuses in American distance running?
You know, what I see is Europeans and other Americans firing shots at American distance running while relevant American distance runners say literally nothing and just run.
Yeah exactly… I’m sick of all the ultra runners taking all the recognition! he should be racing a marathon every weekend if he was strong as a sprinter!
