I think today was a fine lesson that you can't make teams or win championships if all you do is train and never compete/race on the circuit. Unless you're Sydney McLaughlin and just hate everything
SCR out of the 100, good. Now we can focus on real athletes without the distraction.
Maybe Steiner should have competed—with SCR out, she had a fair shot at a relay spot.
Even if SCR tries the 2, she will die. Her last 200m was horrible.
WTF is with her? Did Gatlin have any insight?
Maybe she is running “clean” because she knows that she in particular will be under scrutiny. How many times have I said on this board that she is an 11.3 talent, and BAM 💥 11.31 (0.4). If that is the case, there is no shame in that.
Isn't she required to run at least 1 round of any event in order to run at World Champs, I ask because in the past many who had a bye as defening World Champion ran one round of USARF World Trials and then did not run after that for the rest of the meet.
Yes, runners whose strength is kicking should lead, push the pace at or above their PR pace, and somehow magically they will pull away rather than fade to the back like every other person who has tried this.

I think that the rule is to have the athlete show fitness. But I think DM applied for a hardship or something to go around that.
No, you don't need to show fitness. You just need to make an appearance, unless you get an exemption. Which she received.
There are quite a few runners who aren't that bright.

I’d say pro runners need to be more dynamic than this when running a first round and be able to change their race plan on the fly in order to get through

An 11.3 talent that ran 10.85 two weeks ago? You honestly think people can just fluke their way down over .45 seconds from their talent level?
No, they don’t “fluke” their way down that far. A 11.3 talent could fluke their way down to 11.2 or maybe 11.1-high, once. Maybe.

There aren't any women at USA's who can't run sub 4:10. They can almost all run at least 4:07 and make it on time if they had actually tried. But they didn't even try to run a 4:07.
