Wow this is setting up a dangerous president.
Wow this is setting up a dangerous president.
No, it gives New Yorkers their constitutional rights back.
The prior law was dangerous. What other right do you need to justify to a random arbitrator?
Find it odd people think this is dangerous yet criminals that get caught with unregistered guns get off with probation and suffer little consequences.
The people that take the time to get a concealed carry permit are not the ones committing crimes here. It's the people who aren't getting those lawful permits.... because... wait for it.... they are F*(&*(&(*& criminals.
I paid several hundred dollars to get my CCL. I am not going to do anything to jeopardize that investment.
it gets old seeing people put law abiding gun owners and criminals in the same basket.
First, I hate that guy who feels the need to point out simple misspellings. But, I'm not certain that's what you did.
Did that autocorrect incorrectly, or do you really believe that's the correct word?
You're trolling, I'm sure. Read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers.
I did not go to med school so I'm not going to diagnose a disease.
Don't talk about the Constitution until you educate yourself or get educated on the Constitution.
Thanks to the Supreme Court NY is inching towards the dangerous level of living in Texas.
Calling it a Constitutional right is fair -- that's what the ruling says -- but implying that striking down the law has now somehow made NY safer is not. I live in NYC, take the subway every day, and cannot see how this would possibly make things safer.
There is a reason that the Supreme Court thinks concealed carry should be allowed in most places, but does not allow citizens to bring guns to the Supreme Court.
I agree with you. Lets support people who want to conceal and carry legally by requiring the same sort of protections we do for driving - pass a written test, and a demonstration test.
We need to ban all AR15 and other semi-automatic machine guns.
I wonder what this means for CA. CA has had a law for a long time that makes it nearly impossible to get a conceal carry permit. The only way to get a concealed carry permit is if it’s your job (such as a PI or security guard that requires a firearm) or you can prove your life is in danger and a firearm is required to protect yourself. And then you have to meet with the local sheriff to discuss that. Maybe CA clearly defines “self defense” so the law is legal. Anyways, I’m sure someone will challenge it soon enough and we’ll find out.
This is the problem, people like you spout off nonsense and muddy the waters. Many states require a person to pass a practical exam to obtain a CCL.
Semi automatic machine guns? Where can I get one of those? Do they come with unicorns?
No buddy, my case is made in the decision. You don’t need a special purpose to practice religion. Last I checked the right to freedom of unreasonable search and seizure didn’t require me to explain why I need such a right. The second amendment is an equal amendment with all the rest. Just because you are scared of guns and don’t get the law doesn’t mean the rest of us are.
Probably puts it in jeopardy.
Worth noting that CCL permits nationally increased by 300% since 2007 and during that time crime dropped. The people committing crimes are not the ones who are going through the trouble of getting a CCL.
You lose all credibility in a gun discussion when you call a semiautomatic rifle a machine gun. It shows you don’t even have the basic level of understanding to debate these issues.
Unelected wannabe dictator Hochul takes in the chin for the second time this week - the guns bill she rushed through so she could run campaign ads yapping about it has to be fixed. In their hurry, just as with the UNSAFE Act, the language they used has to be fixed because in this case it would not have prohibited the armor the Buffalo shooter used.
So if me and my friends decide to gun up, you're all good? Or are you going to "fear for your life" when POC exercise their right to walk down the street with a CCP weapon, and kill us? (And get a biased, racist cop or judge to give you a merit badge or something).
Playing the race card is so 2020
2% of non defensive gun deaths were by CCP holders over the last 15 yrs or so. I am much more concerned with the 98% committed by non CCP holders, whatever color they are.
Do you mean precedent? Or is there someone to watch out for in 2024?
This is a disgraceful and entirely unjustified opinion. Only zealots would interpret "well regulated militia" and two hundred plus years of local and state gun regulations to mean no limitations on conceal carry.
Wait a minute. What percentage of all citizens are concealed carry permit holders and what percentage of all "defensive" gun deaths were caused by them? I've seen many spurious claims to self-defense/stand your ground shootings and killings. They are responsible for at least 2240 non-self defense killings since 2007.
"Apr 21, 2022 — Concealed handgun permit holders are responsible for at least 2,240 deaths not involving self-defense since 2007, VPC research shows."
Then they are also a big source of stolen guns: "A 2017 study found that gun owners who carried their guns during the previous months were three times more likely to have their firearms stolen."
