Not trying to be a hater, but I don't love that she skipped NCAAs but can now suddenly run at USATF. Just not a great look to pass on running for your team but then you're ready to go when it suits your individual ambitions.
though this poster clearly has no idea what he/she is talking about- Allie was most recently on the Brooks Beast professional team not in the NCAA (where she won the steeplechase title)... but I'll admit that I am confused why she would leave her pro team if she was literally going to continue living in Seattle and training and then declaring for USAs. I assumed that when she left the Beasts that things would change but nothing really has????
She was a guest on Alli on the Run last month, just before Freihofer's 5K. She said she did not want to feel the pressure to perform well this year, after the injuries and ED treatment, that she had to have her own timeline. She is self-coached now. So things have changed.
oh save it, I listened to that podcast when it came out weeks ago. My thought was more that she would take a longer time off from what is essentially still training and racing as a pro, or that she would move and/ or start a new job or go back to school, etc... bigger changes than buying a puppy with dopey Spencer and then racing at the Trials.

Yeah also not great that she didn't turn up to accept best male hip hop artist at the back entertainment television awards this year but she found time to run at USATF...
She was making a stand against those pigeon hole labels.
Then so was the 154 high which made the team. Perhaps you should have watched the race and the near 520 mile pace the first 1k plus moved at. Kickers race the last 1k with the last 400m in the mid 60s. Tactical race. Pay attention.
Through 3k at 16:50 pace for the pack. 6:02 for last 2K for Allie. Strong finish in hot conditions off a tactical pace. Pretty good for where she was not too long ago.
I got into USAs last minute when a couple people scratched the 5k, and I decided to race it. A national championship is always a great opportunity to gain ra...
I missed the first part of the race live so I didn't realize they went 35-45 on the first lap! That is bananas. I think Allie should feel really good about closing down the last 2K in ~6:00 on a hot day when not peaked. I would honestly love to see her focus more on the flat stuff for injury prevention. Would be really cool to see her run low 15s on the track later this summer.
