Hey,
60 years old and getting back into running. I love the NB 1080, and just got version 12.
I've beaten the shin splints, and slowly working on plantar fasciitis of the left foot, and the aching knees.
I must have tried a dozen insoles, and discovered a few things. Most advertised for running and/or plantar have a fixed arch support. But, for me, adding an arch support insole on top of the arch support built into the shoe, makes it too high and does more harm than good.
I have a medium arch. And at this point I know I need a simple flat insole (no arch support), but with more cushion than the thin foam original.
I just tried the Sof Sole ATHLETE. I'm a 10.5 4E and the 11-12.5 is a perfect fit, no trimming needed. The cushion is great, but it's way too thick, especially at the heel, and makes my shoe too tight around my foot.
I guess what I'm looking for is called either a "replacement", "flat", or "neutral arch" insole with better cushion than the original, decent quality, and wide enough for a 4E foot. But not 1/2" thick like the Sof Sole.
Is there one out there somewhere??
Thanks for your help,
Alex
