If the Next% 2 were actually scientifically better than the 1 or Vaporfly Nike would debut it with a fast race or a time, not a press release. It's probably more comfortable but not measurably better.
About a month ago, I asked this of a Nike rep (via online chat/not some bot - at least I hope!), they didn't give me a reason for the "delayed" U.S. release but said it would be announced on the website ahead of the drop. Lol - the site has said 'coming soon' for about a week now.
A friend of mine works for a reputable shoe website that carries lotsa brands (obs don't wanna give it out) ... he said the pandemic and logistical issues have forced each region of the world to adjust launch dates. Originally it was supposed to be out 4/15 and it's now looking more like 6/30. Interestingly, if you were a Canadian, you could get them, as they're listed on Nike Canada, but you can't ship them to your American cousin...
I care a little bit more than the average Joe about the Pegs 39 release because I have wide, bunion feet that can't fit it anything except the NB Fresh Foam More, which feels like wearing metaphorical pontoon boats and aren't good for anything except my work and a slow, slow, slow run - at least for me. I'm hoping the wide version of the 39 will be my saving grace.
Alright...enough on the Pegs from me.
I forgot to quote the poster from above asking about the Pegs... pardon any confusion
Curious if the arch is the same on these. The original was uncomfortably snug for me
Contrary to other posters opinions about air pods, the above is exactly the reason for the pods.
The spring rate on the foam remains very nearly constant as it is compressed, so yes, different weight runners would benefit from different foams.
The spring rate for a pneumatic spring (i.e. air pod) rises dramatically as it compresses, effectively providing an increased spring rate for heavier runners.
It's not perfect, but it's *probably* an improvement.
8mm drop is a huuuge change
She was wearing the first version
