The rumor in Portland this weekend was that Alexa Efraimson has called it a career. Her career was short but sweet.

Her mother’s name is Chantel. I have never personally known a Chantel but I think it is a nice name.

She was a swimmer and swam at Oregon State University. Alexa also has a younger sister that plays soccer for the University of Idaho. Her college said, "Jenna is an outstanding wing player. She has incredible pace and endurance. Jenna can run up and down the line all day with high technical abilities".
No way. She is still young. Was she injured?
She was in a meet recently- I THINK it may have been an ATL Meet- she ran but her name was never mentioned- she finished way back. I felt bad, I like her. Girls like her and Mary Cain must have gone through so much stress and anxiety from some of the losers on this site.
It's sad, but it must be a relief for her if she did retire.
Another cautionary tale like Cain and Hunter.
Tough to understand this one for me. You never know what's going on behind the scenes -- Julian seemed confident she would regain form as recently as last year. Injuries, maybe?
Was really rooting for her to come back to form. Such a mystery how talent seems to simply go away for some people and not others. It wasnt the typical puberty deak because she performed decently into her early 20’s and even now seems to have an ideal female miler’s build
She was fsiky consisten lt for about 8 years but is now 25. Talent goes away with age. Science tells us that our physical peak is around 20 years old.
Turned pro in 2014, after the conclusion of her junior year in high school, and is now out of the sport, after going through two Olympic cycles, 8 years later. She had a good run, a PanAm bronze is higher than most collegiate champions get on the pro level. Probably not quite what either she or Nike were hoping for when she signed with them to go pro. It's certainly possible she was facing major reductions if not contract termination at the end of the year given that she had never made a US team for WC or OG in that time. Her best this year was 4:12 indoors and had run no faster than 4:14 outdoors.
