How many Republicans still believe the election was stolen from Trump? All these crazies who love and follow Trump need to be replaced by sane Republicans. Lets get Republican team sane elected, excise the Trump cancer and then fight the progressives.
The Trump crazies not only weaken us but they have no values, no morals.
I agree. Most of the steadfast trump loyalists aren’t actual conservatives, they’re trumpists.
You can look at the Georgia gubernatorial situation as evidence. Kemp has been a solid conservative governor yet there is a subset of trump loyalists who were willing to support Vernon Jones, who was a pro life democrat up until 2021, just because trump endorsed him. The good news is Jones didn’t even come close, but trump still seduced David Perdue to run against Kemp in the 2022 primaries. The only platform Perdue had to run on was “kemp didn’t stop the steal” because kemp has been a solid governor.
Luckily, there is proof that trump doesn’t have the power he used to. Kemp beat Perdue by around 70 points in the primary. Also, none of trumps candidates won in the runoff elections this Tuesday. This goes against the crowd who is adamant that anyone in the GOP is a trump loyalist. True conservatives are ready for trump to exit stage left and let a true conservative take the reigns.
Yesterday's hearing was totally biased. Only republicans testifying and only republicans asking the questions written by mostly Republican lawmakers!
Trumpists want you to believe that the election was stolen in a brilliant, covert, sophisticated nationwide operation by the Democrats that went without detection and left no tangible clues. At the same time, they claim the Democrats are totally inept and and can't walk and chew gum at the same time. (which is not altogether wrong).
Trump tried to replace the Acting Attorney General with a patsy. He changed his mind when everyone of any significance in the DOJ threatened to resign.
Matt Gaetz, Mo Brooks, Andy Biggs, Scott Perry, Louie Gohmert, and Marjorie Taylor Greene all asked for pardons. Jim Jordan also inquired about a pardon. Gaetz asked for a pardon from basically the beginning of time.
How solid was the evidence that Gaetz, Greene et al. actually asked for pardons? Were they recordied asking for pardons? Were they stupid enough to put it in writing? Asking for a pardon is tantamount to a confession to the underlying crime.
I can't imagine why Trump didn't pardon these people. They were his friends, right? No falling out with any of them? Jesus Christ that is harsh. Your friends come to you needing your help and you mash the door right in their face, leaving them all desultory to contemplate their felonious fate.

yeah I wonder about this too. In the Jan 6 committee hearing they had a civil servant testify to the asks. But Perry has denied it forcefully. Maybe others.
Not sure what actual proof there is for the pardon 'ask.'
and it would be easy for some to say 'I wasn't asking for a pardon, I was just talking broadly about the pardon process.'

Trump is a mobster. By dangling pardons, he retained power and gets corrupt people to do what he wants. The moment he pardons an individual, the power shifts to the person being pardoned. He no longer has leverage and they can turn on him.

It seems loose.
To ask for a pardon, is not against the law and compared to the host of illegal behaviors we have seen, its a minor issue......trying to pass fake electors for one of many.

They could always deny that they asked for pardons, while testifying under oath. I'll put more weight behind the statement made under threat of perjury versus the Fox News "forceful" denial.
I love that the Dems continue to push this pointless virtue signaling theatre no one actually cares about while Republicans do things like focusing on overturning Roe and repealing gun control measures in New York.

In a poll taken as the Jan. 6 hearings rolled out, Americans approve of criminally charging Trump for his role in the attack — by a whopping 17-point margin.

Asking for a pardon is a confession and admission of guilt.
I hope the evidence, if it exists, that Gaetz and Taylor and others asked President Trump for a pardon is cataloged and verified somewhere.
What kind of wimp asks for a pardon? If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. What kind of nation of puff-pansies have we become when even our highest level, white collar federal criminals won't take their lumps, and instead go crying in the marshmallow wilderness for pardons? Jesus Christ.
Trump didn't pardon them because Trump knew these criminals would eventually get subpoenaed and instead of not testifying and going to jail, they would spill the beans on the crimes they committed with Trump while still being protected by Trump's pardon. Essentially, Trump didn't pardon them to protect himself.

Polls tend to reflect the opinion the pollster wants reflected.
However, if abortion really is so popular than the electorates of the individual states should be kicking out pro-life candidates and voting in pro-choicers relatively quickly. Somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Asking for a pardon is not a legal confession. They could argue they wanted protection from future politically motivated legal entanglements.
My party has become a cesspool. Winning the midterms, which we will do will only prolong the cesspool. And we are losing our best and most ethical politicians due to the Trump cancer.
It was so good to hear strong honest republicans during the hearing. Few of my fellow Republicans appreciate that.

Can't you still plead the Fifth even if you have a pardon? Like if they ask Gaetz, under oath, what he did regarding the 1/6 riots and the child molesting, can't he say "My Presidential pardon does not eviscerate my Constitutional Fifth rights and, on the advice of counsel, I decline to confess twice."
