looking at the splits, she was 6th at the 8000m and then DNF. I hope she's ok and is looking to battle the 5000m. Enjoy her past few events vs Tuohy
I'm happy seeing Grace Forbes hang in there for 2nd, especially after leading and pushing the pace for the last 5000, plus a nice win for Mercy Chelangat.
I guess we miss that NCAA lady-commentator from Indoors.. she woulda noticed and told us when and why LG left
Did Mercy have a "Are you kidding me?" look on her face when the commentator asked if she had anything left for the 5k?
She was running at the front for a while. Also Hays from NCSt was a first team AA, finishing 5th.
kind of...I guess her splits were ~16:50 / 15:47 or so for 33:37
I too am a bit shocked at Gregory falling apart. I thought she looked fine but then when Mercy moved she had no response and then faded badly.
* 32:37 that is
Right you are, captain obvious
Strong finish from Magness in her final college race(?) I thought Reinhart would be right with her, but--who knows what happeded to her.
Yeah I'm surprised she didn't say I have no chance 2e will crush me... I thought for sure she was going to say that having a 10K in her legs and racing against fresh girls means 4th or 5th is probably the limit
I guess she's not a Vulcan and doesn't just State the cold calculated truth to every question... And oh wow anyone noticed Gregory who looked exhausted at regionals after running slow didn't do so good at Nationals! Could that be a pattern we will see more of?
who is that
What kind of shoes were the girls wearing? Anyone wearing vapor flies? I wonder if vapor flies help for the 5K...
I have this smart notion that people who place higher should be rewarded.
Brutal.
Slow times.
PARENTS. Alert.
Get your girl to run distance.
What a joke.
Full scholarship to run slow times at American colleges.!!Do it now!a
Mackay must really hit the gym, that is one buff looking young lady! Wayment getting some competition in the steeple, I wonder if she has a lot more in the tank?
Steiner blows her wad early, as usual — 22.03 (0.5) PB and MR in the heats.
Did she and Ofili run the 4x4 prelims?
If so, I would have to take Ofili for the 200 final, she runs much easier than Steiner; and also Alfred in the 100, the early gap proving too much to bridge.
If I’m right about Steiner, then what does she do at nationals? Better shot in the 1 or the 2? I think she has to do the 1, because of the relay. I think the 4 relay is maybe too deep, if McLaughlin etc try for it.
But at the end of the day, I know nothing—except that Saturday’s racing should be great to watch!

Ofili did run a 4x4 leg. Steiner did not.
Steiner will be fine.
Racing is head-to-head, seeing who can get to the finish line ahead of their opponent. Racing is seeing who can beat the other neighborhood kids to a tree. It is not running separate and comparing times.
Times are just statistics. The winner of a football game is the team with the most points, not a statistic such as who has the most passing yards.
If a runner gets beat by FIVE other people in their heat, there is no legitimate excuse for failing to advance.
The workload on some of the top sprinters can be wearing. It is not unusual for muscle cramps or strains with so much high level racing. Let's hope the men and the women all remain healthy and we get the fantastic show we think is coming.

As noted, Steiner didn't run in the 4x400 heat.
Steiner will more than likely run the 200 at the USATFs. Bagging the 200 for the 100 only does not make sense. And for the "relay," you must be referring to the 4x100. The US team will be fine without Steiner running the 4x100. I can see her being an alternate, though. Also, is there anything written in stone that states the 4x100 pool at the WC is composed only of those that ran the 100 at Nationals? I could be wrong but I don't believe that there is. Steiner is more than likely the 2nd best American 200 runner at the time after Gabby Thomas. Brittany Brown has a faster time this season at 21.99 (her PR) but Steiner seems to have more in the tank. Again, with Sha'Carri rounding into form as probably the top American 100 runner at the time, and other strong and viable leg options, Steiner will not be needed for the 4x100.
Back to the NCAA, a 200 dark horse is Anavia Battle. I was surprised that she did not qualify for the 100 but that could have also been to plan. By not running the 100, she will be better rested for the 200 which is her better event anyway. Battle is an Olympian and looked good in the 200 prelim. I expect her to contend in the final.
