Why would I want Jerry to move on from the BTC? He'd be swapping a job training some of the fastest pros in the world for an administrative focused job with lots of recruiting and fundraising.
Helen has done a lousy job. She brought a few foreign transfer students with her from USF. Other that that not much as happened with women's distance and she hasn't recruited anyone of note. Why would you make her interim coach?
Ehhh as a recent former Division 1 track and field athlete this is bogus. All schools talk to their track and field athletes about maintaining proper weight in order to perform well. My coaches throughout college as well as all my friends coaches at other division 1 programs did so. We did BOD POD and weight assessments also. This generation is sissy’s. Anything pppl can complain about now they will. Either due to their own shortcomings or for attention or a check. Robert Johnson is one of THE MOST SUCCESSFUL and respected collegiate track and field coaches ever. No he’s not perfect but who is ? To fire him was a STUPID decision. simply based off the words of a couple of not so happy athletes who didn’t make it big time like they wished to. The program will go to trash unless they can find another coach to uphold it, but even then no one will be Robert Johnson. I’m right so I won’t argue.
This is wrong. He was not fired, the university chose not to renew his contract that ended this year.If you read the article correctly you would know this.
How could it be the Powells? I’m pretty sure a friend told me that she was a big fat shamer herself. Women can get away with doing it a little bit more than me but give it two years and even they won’t be able to do it.
This might go against the grain of who should be the next Oregon head coach, but if they were to go with an internal hire, Jim Radcliffe, who is the head strength & conditioning coach there would be someone they should consider if he wants to do it.
I think he’s tied in pretty good with PK, and he probably knows more about the track/XC program than most of the current staff.
No, I read the report the university put out stating his contract is up at the end of this year and it won’t be renewed. My guess is they’re just looking for something new. RJ has had a very successful career at Oregon. Time for a fresh start for both sides.
It's difficult to know - they seem to have some dramatic differences in appearance, but have never been seen in the same location together at the same time... so maybe?
hard to think what kind of person might be a good fit to come into the Director role unless they're also looking to replace one of the current distance coaches.
who is a well-respected, distance-oriented person who the eugene townies would like who would be happy with an administrator role and not day-to-day coaching?
Capriotti.
You must be joking. The K-State in the late 80s and 90s was rampant with EDs and injuries. One of the most toxic environments to train, hands down.

Wow, I didn’t know K-State athletes were struggling with erectile distinction back then. Did they ever figure out what was causing it? Seems strange that for two decades one college track team had an excessive number of ED cases but I know times were different back then
There's something else that hasn't been mentioned that has occurred during RJ's tenure and that's athletes who left the program. To be sure, athletes transfer in and out of colleges for a number of reasons, and not necessarily due to anything the coach or school has done. That said, it does raise questions when some of the more prominent recruits leave. Among those who started at Oregon but left are: Alaysha Johnson, Eric Edwards, Shae Anderson, Makenzie Dunmore. Then there is a group who moved with the Powells to Washington, among them Katie Rainsberger. There are others who I have not mentioned.

Schumacher does not have close to the adequate people skills to do a schmooze-heavy job like T+F director at Oregon.

Coach Rad is too good at coaching to be an administrator. Would be a colossal waste and bad for the athletes. He needs to be 100% hands on.
