I 100% admit I' m a hater and I' m here for the daily snark. This thread has been very entertaining the past few weeks.
Me too, but this thread has become very repetitive and needs new content. How many of the over 1500 posts on here suggest that Seth needs a coach? 750? And how many times have they based this on the false assumption of 'wasted talent"? The Dee Gee Rrrr haters faaamileeee needs to just stop propagating this falsehood. Seth does not have any wasted talent, not a single drop. He was never a stand out runner in college - what sort of late bloomer do you think he is? He has tapped out his talent and he is a 2:2x guy. Now he's just getting older and his times will slow. He reached his peak potential.
Do you know why he doesn't get a coach? He's had coach's. Every single one of us who have ran in college know workouts and know how to structure training. The mad scientist crap is him trying to find talent he does not have. Getting a coach would simply be confirmation that he is tapped out, nothing would change except his strava. Which is exactly why he now has a sacral stress fracture. The "talent" that he does have is largely based on being a tiny tiny man. Tiny. Recognizing the source of his talent, his diminutive stature, he fell into the trap that many do - which is to become even more tiny - playing to his strengths. The attempt to tap into that talent had him develop an eating disorder as he tried to make himself as tiny as possible. Bring on the stress fractures. Everyone knows extreme low caloric eating is a stress fracture's best friend. This is nothing surprising about his injury and the root cause.
In any event, please continue to hate on him for all the other very valid reasons to hate on him - but let go of the talent myth that he only needs a coach and is wasting talent. he's not. Seth hit his potential, he really did. He will never run faster than he already has. He needs a nutritionist, not a coach.
If he’s under-fueling and overtraining then he could be running faster.
I get the whole "if you don't like it, don't watch it" line, but I look at it this way: he's the one who chose to put (a lot, but not all of) his life out on a public forum. Some people will like what he produces, some will not. It's really no different than someone commenting on a movie or a television show.
I don't agree with some of the personal insults directed towards him, but is anyone really surprised that people on the internet have harsh opinions? If he didn't want people to criticize his training, or the parts of his personal life that he puts out for public consumption, he should've thought about that before he broadcasts it out to the world.
Frankly, if he combed through this thread, he'd get some pretty good feedback on his content.
I very much agree with this. All enertainment that is enjoyed has its critics. Its just natural that people have opinions and want to share them, whether it is a movie, a tv show, a musical performance or a vlog. Its quite frankly absurd to require people to shut off all critical thought and turn into a cult for SJD. When he wants hundred of thousands of fans he also have to accept some hundreds that are critical of what he puts out.
When it comes to the personal stuff I have no idea why he lays it out there. He is the director of the vlogs and could stop filming, or edit out, the numerous times his family (or himself) is put in a bad light. And again, people are really served stuff on a platter to critizise, some vlogs it feels like we are avoiding talking about the elephant in the room, but rather to digging in people mostly stay away. I wish he would stop putting that out there.
It certainly wouldn' t hurt him to take a look at what others are doing. In yesterdays video he mentioned how many Running Youtubers he watches. I' d like to know if that' s actually true. Looking at his Strava he has 52514 followers but himself only follows 5 people, 2 of those are TL and his brother.

People are keeping this thread alive because keeping it alive is in itself a meme of great proportions. Everyone who has kept this thread alive deserves a pat on the back. We are making LRC history here.
To address your comments, yeah this is getting repetitive. It is a reflection of Seth's channel after all...
He hasn't reached his peak potential in terms of performance. That assertion implies his training is optimal, which it obviously isn't. Unless you mean he's peaked in terms of what his actual performances will be in the future, which due to his immense stubbornness and tunnel vision, I would definitely agree.
Also - a little more work into the Seth bashing would be good. How often have you guys mentioned his wrist band - as though he's being wearing it for two weeks? Do you really think that? You can see no other explanation? You would have also seen a comment recently where he claims is takes him 8-10 hours to make each video. This is also false but ties in nicely to the wrist band...
The reason his wrist band is there is that he filmed a ton of these on the same day. The evidence? Today's video (August 5, 2022) was clearly filmed on the same day as the July 23, 2022 posted video. If you can't see why, you need to look harder. He really should have at least changed his shirt like he does for others, maybe moved some shoes around, he got lazy(er).
This isn’t true. Back when he had his last child (before his girl that was just born) he said in a vlog that he wears the hospital bracelet from each kid until it falls off. Weird, but it’s for his kids so whatever. I guess it shoes he does care about them. The larger issue was when he was wearing his hospital band from urgent care for multiple days for brownie points
I’m starting to feel bad for the man. I feel ashamed posting some of snarky things on this thread.
At first I thought the criticism was warranted and some of it still is. I mean he was giving out bad advice, not following his advice, being a bad example on overtraining, being rude to TL (she has to deal with a lot), lying, and breaking driving laws/drone laws.
But now this man is clearly having some mental issues due to his channel, paying for his house, paying for his kids, his injuries, and this LR thread (he definitely reads this thread).
I know he broadcasts his whole life on YouTube (I feel bad for his family) and he opens himself to this criticism but he doesn’t deserve 77 pages on LR about his failures as a person and a runner.
Seth, if you are reading this I hope you get well soon, I hope your your stress will go away. Good luck on your channel. I’m sorry if I contributed to your mental anguish.

I don’t. The dude portrays himself as a prophet of the hard working man. He acts like he works harder than anyone else. He is incredibly smug and arrogant about it too. In reality, most people that watch him have significantly harder jobs than he does. I work 13 hour shifts in healthcare and I know that my job is harder than his and it certainly seems like I make less money. Yet here is Seth acting like some hero for filming himself running up a mountain, eating eggs, and laying around drinking coffee

I'm not defending his actions. Again, a lot of his criticisms are warranted. But 77/78 pages of beating a dead horse on is personality is not warranted when he is clearly crumbling apart.
