👉THANK YOU for picking up your running shoes from the "DeMoor Global Running Store". You are supporting this channel's video creation by using the Running W...
His reviews do often make sense which is nice, and he has some nice getting feet wet slo mo shots in 4K. He is annoyingly nice though, just really nice. I think there's a hole in the YT market for a real down to earth a-hole shoe reviewer, one that gives 1/10 scores and cusses a lot.
Kofizi is also annoying in using that damn selfie stick on every race, give the damn race some respect put it away. It's not that hard to get someone to film you by the side and use one of those little hat-cams instead.
With all the hate I' m giving the guy, todays video is actually quite good for getting a few ideas for exercises as strength training or warmup.
I think we need a little positive, pro Seth period in this thread now. Some of his content is good, he's a fine runner and he's doing it his way with some success.
Seth if you read this (99% sure he will) below is some constructive feedback from me:
1, Separate the family vlogs from the running content, maybe make a separate channel - may even make more $ that way.
2, Tone down the catch phrases and southern drawl talk
3, Open up your training a little and do some 'normal' workouts weekly with some analysis afterwards. Pretty sure you used to do this actually.
4, Run with other people more! Local runners. Get your brother involved, how does he train? etc.

I mentioned the selfie stick to him a long time ago, and I noticed other viewers had as well, occasionally.
He also is misinformed on what carbon plates actually do. I know it may not annoy many, but it does me, cause it isn't correct. You don't load a plate and it come back like a spring, the plate if anything in simple machine terms, is a lever. Carbon fiber isn't something that bends...its rigid for a reason and often replaces steel, because it is light and super strong.
Idk about the application of carbon plates in running shoes specifically, but in general carbon fiber can very much be made to flex and store/release energy like a spring. For an example, see the prosthetic running blades made famous by Oscar Pistorius. A major benefit of using carbon fiber in various applications isn't strictly that it's strong and light, but that a variety of mechanical properties can be imparted depending on how the fibers are laid out.
1) his little brother almost stole the USA Mountain Championship this weekend, blowing everyone out then collapsing a hundred meters from the finish in 1st place. He needs to start showcasing Joseph more..
.
Woah! He really should feature his brother more. It could give himself a bit of breathing room and it would be good for the channel. I would really like to see more of that, and that episode alone would be great in a vlog.
I think Joseph lives several hours drive from Denver. He has been in numerous videos over the years and the brothers seem very close.
The trouble for SJD is that Joseph seems to be the better runner right now. I am not sure that his ego could deal with the DGR fanbase wanting more Joseph and asking about how Joseph trains differently.
Joe Gray and Max King didn't run so I wouldn't put too much into the recent usa mt champs. Was by far the weakest lineup in a few years. Anyone know why Gray wasn't there? Also, I agree the lil bro is way more newsworthy than seth!
I think Gray already has the auto-qualifier. Not sure if that's why he didn't run though.
You know what would make me watch his videos regularly again? Another OTQ or marathon PR attempt. I found the videos leading up to New York to be some of my favorite to watch.
Madscientist, I understand the angle you're coming from and I'm not discounting it by any means. I know that there are different types and different uses for carbon fiber. Hell there are carbon plated springs on the market. But most of the time, it is used because of how rigid and light it is.
Carbon or stiff plates have been on the bottom of spikes for some time now. It's sole purpose is to make the shoe become a lever, and "help" you through the stride cycle. If it was suppose to be a spring the zoomx/peba foam (or other foams used now by other name brands) wouldn't be needed. It is pretty well documented that if you try to flex any of these plates by force, they crack and/or snap. There is a "carbon spring plate" available on the internet currently that is an insert for any shoe. But the way they sell it (by name) is a bit misleading, and they even tell you how it works in a video. The reason they call it this is because it isn't flat. They say it literally rolls you onto your forefoot. It has that heel to toe offset that helps with that roll feel you get from all the current super shoes. They don't say that there is loading and unloading to help get your foot up into the air like a spring would do.

This is solid advice. Would really like every point here to be implemented.
No weird way of talking, no extra hype. Still dealing with a lack of sleep which he knows is an issue. He also openly includes aspects of his devout life. What I see is just a more chill, authentic guy including us in his day. I kinda like the beard too. I watched another early vlog where he's smoking a corncob pipe and drinking a beer in his backyard like a normal dude. Kinda fascinating.
There's a video of him right after the Rotterdam Marathon this year where his guard is also down, and he's clearly not the gee-whiz Southern-drawl dude he pretends when church training re-engages.
If you watch his videos to mock him or watch his videos because you love him, aren't you just making him the same amount of money? I enjoy seeing him mocked because of how awful his videos are, but I feel like in the end all these Seth threads do, especially when you link to his videos, is make him money. Don't you all worry that these threads are just adding life to his YouTube "career"?

Oh don’t worry. The extra 25 views Seth gets from his haters on letsrun will not slow down the snowball that is his vlog and brand picking up speed on the way to its sure death.

A lot of the YouTube $$ depends on engagement, watch time, etc. If I watch a video I just scan around different parts of the video. I never watch the full thing. He barely gets a penny from me.

As much as I enjoy coming on here and making fun of Seth for his terrible videos and grating personality, I don't actually hate the guy and actively wish for his channel to fail (I just think it's happening regardless of what I do or don't want). In fact, part of me hopes he keeps at it for as long as possible because I'll miss the daily snark once he finally throws in the towel. So no, I'm not bothered if my occasional hate-watching gives him another dollar or two per month. It's the least I can do for the entertainment he provides lol.
