Could be. Clearly Keely is in at least 1.56 shape so Mu needs to be 100% confident she could knock out a good 1.55 to win, or maybe even 1.54. Anything less than a crushing win would give too much to the opposition.
Keely Hodgkinson?? We know from Millrose how Mu doesn't want an L on her record.

Mu wouldn't back out for that reason. She isn't afraid to lose.
And after that 1:22 600m at Penn Relays, Mu is obviously is excellent shape, so who knows if Keely would be able to beat Mu anyways.
Whatever the reason that Mu isn't running at Pre, I hope it's something that Mu can fix quickly.

C'mon people. The weather forecast is spooking people enough to drop out.

I ran 800/1500 on the track in the UK and I've never heard of someone pulling out of an 800m race because of rain, ever. Technical/sprint events maybe if its really bad.

Mu is injured or it's a personal issue. She doesn't seem the type to avoid racing.
Hodgkinson is ready to roll, but 1:55 is a stretch at this stage of the season, especially without Mu to chase. She ran 1:58 from the front on Saturday so there's probably more in the tank. I'm glad Reekie is in the field as she'll run hard from the gun which might give us a chance of a really good time.
Except I didn't say Keely is ready for 1.55 yet. My point was that as Mu easily beat Keely in the OG last year then Mu needs to be in 1.55 shape to race her now and probably she isn't yet. If she races and struggles to win that would actually hand Keely a psychological boost.
Don't Nike athletes usually just show up and jog if they aren't ready to race to avoid big contract penalties. Either she's very seriously injured or Nike had to make major concessions to beat out competitors in the Mu sweepstakes. Hope it's the latter!
Shame about Stewie but it’s clear from his recent races that he isn’t ready for this. He’ll be doing more harm than good to himself if he keeps on trying to race , so it’s very sensible for him to ease off until he has recovered a bit more
Sad to see that Kate Grace has withdrawn from the 800 meters. I assume she’s still recovering from her bout with long Covid. Wish her the best in recovering and getting her fitness back.

Why does she have to be "seriously" injured? The way track is set up all the emphasis is about world championships and olympic games. If somethings slightly wrong athletes should err on the side of caution to be prepared for USAs to try and qualify for worlds

I never thought I'd say this, but I think I enjoyed track more when there was only the Olympics and then WC every 4 years.
I liked the "off" years and it would make the Diamond League (and it's finals meets) more interesting.
Maybe I'm just old but the anticipation for the Olympics and the excitement when they got here was great.
Mu finds it too difficult to get to that little town and she has finals. Semenya did not get her visa approved. Rai finds it too cold; Kendricks is getting tired of the PV now as Mondo is heights ahead and others have caught up.
lol at these posts suggesting mu is afraid of keely. its certainly possible keely could beat her, but saying she is ducking competition is disrespectful. we will see what happens at the world champs when the race actually matters. hopefully they both toe the line fit. ill take mu all day in that scenario.
