hi! I'm a former 800 specialist but I believe that I may be a better fit in the 1500. I run 1:56.99 in the 800 and 51.00 in the 400. I haven't run a 1500 (our state does the 15), but I did one in indoor. It was mostly a sit and kick with a slow time that was 4:13, my coach believes at that time I was in 4:08 (4:26 mile) shape.
fast forward 3 months from indoor and I have been off running the whole time, on crutches 6 weeks, boot 2 weeks, and now can return to run following a grade 4 stress fracture. I'm hopping in a 4x4 in two weeks for state (cleared by doctor as long as I don't have pain before then).
After that, Im focusing on going either 1:52 in the 800 or 4:14 in the mile so that I can still run for my goal school since i'm a senior. I'm thinking about working with RunCCG or following a training plan, but I'm not too sure.
Should I treat summer as a cross country thing and rebuild my aerobic base? Or should I basically have my own outdoor season assuming I can maintain most of my previous speed and try and run the 4:14 off of speed? I'm unsure of what to do but I'm really motivated to hit this time. Looking for some feedback on how to structure this! Or if you think I'd have a better shot in the 800, lmk!
