These 10k races were all within the last 2 months. The first one was during marathon training. I was doing lots of long runs, 3-5 mile tempos and 400m repeats. I could barely stay under 6:00 pace but I had good endurance. The second 10k I started doing longer intervals and my speed improved. I ran sub 18 for the first time. Still doing long runs and 3-5 mile tempos. The third 10k was the same training, except I dropped the tempo and did another interval session (to experiment).
I'm thinking that I started too fast on the last two 10ks and paid the price? But on the last 10k I felt terrible right from the start - just very tired. I've done 5 races within the past 2 months so I'm thinking I am simply overtrained (3x10k, half and a marathon)?
I'm having a week off now. Basically I'm confused about why my endurance has declined so much.
