Has a claim, lol. Coe is light years ahead of Kipketer as an 'overall runner'. And at 800 it is not 'objectively no contest'. Kipketer had the advantage of the Golden League. If there had been a boycott of Moscow, everybody would have assumed Coe would have won the 800m. Coe has two Olympic 800 silvers to Kipketer's silver and bronze. Coe didn't have the benefit of biannual world championships.
Yeah, Kipketer was the best Kenyan full throttle EPO guy. But really, taking so many goes to finally break Coe's 16 year WR, and not managing to break 1:41 with his physical prime coinciding with the height of the full throttle era, is a little disappointing for 'the greatest 800m runner in history'.
Obviously a white/Indian guy has to do 10 times more than an East African for it to count for the likes of you and John Wesley Harding.
Coe has a claim to being as great or an even greater overall runner than Kipketer. But at the 800 it is objectively no contest. Kipketer dominates on titles, records and dominance. Yes, he lacks the Olympic gold, but let's not act like missing the one that was in his physical prime isn't a key factor. He won Worlds in '95, '97 and '99 and went undefeated in all 15 800m races in 1996. Hard to imagine him not winning gold had he the opportunity. In 2000 he was not the same athlete finishing 2nd and 3rd in his two races before the Olympics and racing much more sparingly. Really a silver was a good performance, but his tactics left something to be desired.

Well Coe went 1 for 3 at the 800 in the European Champs, which would be a watered-down version of Worlds.
In 1980, there was a boycott and Coe did face watered-down fields. An American Donald Paige in fact beat Coe in Italy that season. Due to the boycott, Paige and others were not in Moscow.
The Golden League is great, but Coe had the circuit as well and he just wasn’t as prolific at the 800 later in his career. That’s OK but it matters when assessing them head to head at the 800.
You can throw your Kipleter full throttle EPO thing all you want without proof. His times and consistency stand up, and all you have is insinuations because you’re bitter Coe didn’t run faster.
I'll take David Rudisha as the best 800m man of all time, no question.
He won Olympic Gold twice, one in the still-standing world record of 1:40.91 (almost ten years now) leading the entire way. He won World Championship 800m gold twice, 2011/2015. He won double World Junior gold at 800m and 4x400m(!). And finally, he ran the top three performances ever, six out of the top eight, and 11 out of the top 21 all-time performances at 800m.

Notably, Lilleso's turning 19 this fall, while his compatriot, Axel Vang Christiansen, crushed him at Euro U20 xc (gold to bronze), last year, and the latter is turning 18 in late July. Lilleso on the track has the better credentials at present, though. In his 18th year, he ran 13:40. In his 19th, he's run 13:31 and 7:48/49. Christiansen ran 13:44 on the track last year at 16, before his 17th birthday, and ran 13:42 on the roads at Monaco in February at 17. Denmark has two great prospects improving consistently.

At the moment I consider Axel the most promising. He possibly already this year has po-tentiel to go sub 28 in the 10.000m, sub 13:30 in the 5.000m and sub 8:30 in the 3000m st.

Given his results, I agree that David Rudisha would be the best runner of all time and I had no idea how many records he had in a conditional small period of a couple of years.
