I was about 8 miles into a 10 mile runand seemingly out of nowhere, I developed an excruciating pain around my lower right back/upper-upper glute. I lowered my pace and finished the run, but it was a very painful last 2 miles. The pain did not subside after the run, and I am really struggling to even walk now (5 hours later). I’ve had a ton of injuries over the years but have never experience something quite like this. Feels distinctly different than a slipped disc, hip bursitis, or a labral tear.
The part that concerns me the most is that there is zero chance I can run through this the way things currently feel - and I’ve run through torn labrums, torn menisci, torn muscles, herniated discs, etc.. (I know, dumb).
I am struggling to pinpoint the exact location, but it feels like it is in the vicinity of my right SI joint and sacrum. I fear a sacral sfx. But this literally came on out of nowhere. I possibly felt a slight twinge in the area yesterday, but i thought nothing of it, and woke up and ran 8 miles at a solid pace without any pain whatsoever. Then BOOM. Could a sfx develop this suddenly? No warning signs whatsoever (apart from a tiny twinge that quickly became an afterthought)?
What are the key differences in symptoms between SI joint issues and sacral stress fractures?
Thank you!
FYI: I do not have health insurance otherwise I’d have already seen a doctor.
