These were my predictions in another thread 13 days ago:
1. Abel Kipsang 3:49.19
2. Jakob Ingebrigtsen 3:49.47
3. Timothy Cheruiyot 3:49.84
4. Oliver Hoare 3:50.50
5. Cooper Teare 3:50.57
6. Samuel Tefera 3:50.91
7. Cole Hocker 3:51.72
8. Jake Heyward 3:52.28
9. Stewart McSweyn 3:53.30
10. Filip Ingebrigtsen 3:54.22
11. Ignacio Fontes 3:54.79
12. Matt Centrowitz 3:55.31
13. Colin Sahlman 3:55.64
14. Vincent Keter 3:56.48
15. Clayton Murphy 3:58.07
…
McSweyn has raced in Doha and Birmingham since then and clearly it hasn’t gone well, so I’ll go out on a limb and predict he doesn’t make the trip to Eugene but tries to “get right” at home instead. Neil Gourley is then called up from the 1500 to the Bowerman Mile. These predictions are not likely, but whatever.
Murphy’s run better in the last 13 days than he had earlier this Spring, so I’ll give him a bit more credit while still predicting he’ll be near the rear.
I’d like to have seen Centro open up his season with a low key 1:49 or 3:40 at least, and I have half a mind to say he’ll DNS but I figure contractual obligations will probably incentivize him to run. I’m now calling Sahlman to scalp him, though.
