The times at Mt SAC Relays were pretty good in general, so I don't think the track is slow. According to the company that put in the Mt SAC track it is supposed to be the same track that they put into the new Hayward Field.
But yes, the wind was somewhat bad tonight. Not horrible, but bad enough to slow down times.
People are bagging on the performances at the USATF event last night. For a lot of the runners, these were season openers so it’s really not a huge deal. It’s better for them to be rounding into form at the USATF Championships than now. It’s the college athletes that have chances to make the world’s team that are at a disadvantage because they are already peaking and are going to be spent after a long season.
The track from before and now are different. Mt SAC has a new facility. I was there for the Mt SAC invite this year and a lot of my runners were able to run PRs so it is not slow. The wind likely play a role into yesterday's performances.
Guarantee if they had the meet at APU times would have been faster & there would have been better fan turnout... Massive / new stadium is no good if its empty. Let the fans down on the track / infield and create an atmosphere similar to Bryan Clay.

There would probably have been less wind at the Asuza Pacific track which means the times would have been faster.

100% APU fastest track in socal
Oxy has to be up there. Imagine the USATF cared about helping the sport of Track & Field. Just imagine.

Well they almost always have a tailwind. I've run two 100s and two 200s at that track and only one of those races was wind legal.
