Where is Vancouver, California?
What's your point?
Desirable areas with thriving economies and cultural amenities have always fetched top dollar. You can afford to buy or you can't. Whining about it doesn't change the equation. Either make more money, move to a less desirable but more affordable area, or accept your circumstances in your current location.
Aren't you some ardent uber-capitalist Adam Smith fanboy that believes in boot strappy conservative values? When it comes to housing, you whine and complain like a college freshman that just discovered socialism in Comparative Economics 100.
The houses around it are behemoths. Kind of odd to have such big houses adjacent to a tiny house.
1) Pacific NW gave you a solid enough education, K-12 for you to qualify for University of Washington.
2) You have a solid formal education from University of Washington.
3) You were able to obtain employment from one of the largest employers in the world by market capitalization there in Pacific NW.
Except for finding a wife and a piece of real estate, Pacific NW has been very good to you. There are many billionaires per capita in the greater Seattle area. Those billionaires and others whom are near billionaires have pushed real estate prices higher. Just buy something!
Here's the thing with jamin. He will sometimes post stuff that I don't agree with, but then he comes up with quality threads such as this one. His website feedback is also outstanding.
What about San Francisco? Sunnyvale/Cupertino? $2M could be a fixer upper in some of those areas.
I was just going to say, Jamin, please post something in the Bay area. Thanks.
You can get a 2,500 sq. ft. building lot in Aspen, CO for $2.3 million:
