Personally I believe that Shelby was dirty and it's incredibly disappointing. But, I don't believe there's a systematic doping program going on @ BTC. I'd guess this was an independent decision (well, maybe w/ 1 teammate, but you can figure out who that might be). Either way, there's nothing to say that there's a systematic doping program going on at BTC.
i do not think the bowerman track club can recover from shelby's doping controversy, even if tuohy joins them, they would still be viewed as a tainted team, sucks for katelyn if she joins, her development surely will be questioned by some just because she's at btc
Notable Update: Katelyn Tuohy officially scratches on 1500m and will only run the 5000mhttps://www.instagram.com/p/Cdtkj_LPom2/http://www.ustfccca.org/2022/05/featured/the-bowerman-2022-womens-watch-list-update-6
With Tuohy’s injury history and affinity for pushing it on east days, I don’t love the BTC fit. It’s be a bummer if 3-4 years later we get the always injured, no adjustments talk from the athlete and then the defensive Shalane spin…I’d rather she join Mike Smiths group or join New Balance Boston. Maybe a slight lean to the former if she locks in on 3k/5k and the latter if she wants to do a lot of 1500m running.
The Bowerman athletes who did not get injured are obviously running well. Unfortunately their results are tainted by a doping bust in the group, extremely suspicious progression and body changes from some of their athletes, and the whole secretive 'nike lab experiments' feel to their group. They are difficult to root for because of all this.
I'm betting she goes to Team BOSS and throws all of you for a loop. Mike Smith is an exceptional men's coach, and a very good women's coach, but his women have not measured up the same standard of excellence across the board.

"body changes from some of their athletes".... "Nike lab experiments" ? WTF are you talking about? Jerry pulled his group away from Dr. Brown when he grew suspicious of his practice. Is going to altitude for camps considered a "lab experiment"?

actually, i dont think all are the same as shelby, not karissa and not elise and not the others
also new balance has their own runners lab experiments, adidas does too, i follow the netherlands team and they r just the same .. but the lab photos that jordan hasay shares, scares me a little
As Grant Fisher said, ultimately you run what your best at. Grant would have loved to be a 1500 champion, but….
Katelyn should experiment with all sorts of distance and slowly figure out where her talents are best suited. Has she run a competitive 10? Who knows, maybe she will be even better at it than she already is at the 1500 and 5. I have always thought of her as an xc champ and super strong athlete at distance. Mantz, but even faster….
she havent run a 10k race, and has no plans of running it
Someday, I hope she runs a few just to see if it’s a good fit. I’d wager she would be more likely to break 31 min than to break 3:59 over the next 5 years if she gave it a try.

nobody knows, but hope u remember that shes broke a 36 yr old record in the mile in high school and shes not even a miler
breaking 3:59 is also in her range knowing she cut down 6 seconds in just a year

For sure. Hope she stays at NC state, goes for the xc individual title and experiments with events in the college setting. Has she run steeple? Love to see that too. I’d think she’d crush it.
