How are they chosen? Having a difficult time per usual finding that info. Is it just a nomination? Top 5 at nationals?

In the 2019 race, the best US runner finished 33rd, Shadrack Kipchirchir, a Kenyan born transplant, a 27:07 10k guy. 6 Ugandans, 4 Kenyans, 5 Ethiopians and 5 Eritreans beat him. So I take back Grant could not make top 7 on these teams, but top 5 on these teams is super hard. I predict Grant would finish 20-25th.
According to Wiki,
"The USA Cross Country Championships is the annual national championships for cross country running in the United States. The championships is generally held in mid-February and it serves as a way of designating the country's national champion, as well as acting as
the selection race for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships."
The 2022 USA Cross Country Championships was held in an 2022, but probably there will be another USA Cross Country Championships in late 22 or 23 to select the 2023 team.
After all the negative talk on these boards I would love to see Drew Hunter representing the USA. Course looks to be tough and even running it at 5-6pm the temperatures will be around 80 degrees. Remember it is summer in February in Australia. Also heard that the aussie selection trials won't even be on the course due to the course being on a famous motor racing circuit and Athletics Australia will only have access to the course a week before the event. Crzy!
