Maybe. At least he's not another tedious athlete thanking God, his coach, blah, blah. He's arrogant, and he'll have to bring it on race day if he doesn't want to look like a chump, but at least he's not boring
He's definitely 19 or 20 years old! Andres Arroyo was also close with a 1:47 in 2013 and now has a PB of 1:44 from 2019. He was 18 at the time and everybody thought the record would go but it didn't!!

Yeah he's just a theatrical kid larping as a movie villain for some unknowable reason. It's middle distance track, he's not fighting in the colosseum. "Oooh I'm dangerous, I'm a dangerous man. A big strong dangerous man and your in my territory now, what are you gonna do about it?" It's so melodramatic.

IMO, if a record is set in high school, it’s a high school record regardless of the age or if pros were in the race, etc. That being said, age does make a difference. Check out Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers, the chapter on the 10,000 hour rule and youth Canadian hockey teams. Pretty fascinating actually.
This kid is a legitimate U.S. high schooler age wise and everything else wise, therefore any record achieves will be legit. You can put a mental asterisk next to his or in public opinion but there will be no asterisk on the official registrar. Also, a decent number of high schoolers graduate at age 19 for not fault of their own. With that said, I doubt he will break the record now; I think he will have a better chance in July.
He is not 19, World Athletics, often advances the age thing thru the end of the Calender year..ie. if he turns 19 in even November, it might show up that way, we have been thru this with multiple, multiple folks. Flatt has been vetted LOL!!

Not true. It’s lists his current age. He is 19
Cade said on instagram today for at least the third time, he is 18. Can we move on from this?
