I think its more likely she was in the grey zone with supplements and flew too close to the sun. Would explain why she is so adamant about not having doped, and why she came up with the bogus burrito excuse.
Just want to reiterate that there is no reason to believe any conspiracy theories and there is no evidence from the case that leans towards her innocence. None.
please don’t let your bias towards her cloud your judgement and lead you to believe things about this situation that you wouldn’t believe if it were anyone else, especially a foreign runner, a runner of color, or a runner you don’t like.
At this point the grey zone is just cheating to me. Her improvements were astronomical and if she didn’t feel like she was cheating while in the grey zone it says a lot about her.
Another 50 pages coming from the doping apologists arguing the injustice of the system and that it was "possible" she doped accidentally. And pigs can fly. (When they aren't being consumed in an offal burrito).
I believe that someone sabotaged her food/drink at some point in time. Whatever the case, I don’t think she took what showed up in her system knowingly.

You mean a flagrant doper wouldn't come up with the kind of story she posed? Really?
Well I am ambivalent. On the one hand she deserves all the scorn befitting a convicted doper. But I also feel bad for her and on a certain level see her as a victim of the sport. I think she doped. I thought it was obvious. (I said so back in 2020). And it is cheating especially regarding the clean athletes who were cheated in having to compete with her as well as the athletes who knew they had to dope to compete with her. Her progression was a classic doping arc, and it is common, the so-called late bloomer archetype with the alleged magic latent running ability genes that strangely manifest themselves upon joining a pro team.
But I am also honest enough to know that PEDs are endemic at the highest levels of this sport. Rip Houlihan all you want, but do people honestly think runners who are running superfast times (the women's 5000m record is a ridiculous 14:06) are clean? The sport is no different than sprinting, cycling or cross country skiing in this regard, and to compete at the top level, that requires chemistry and the willingness to morally compromise. That willingness is everywhere, as is the idea that doping isn't truly cheating, just leveling the playing field. In the sports where the lid blow open, such as cycling or baseball, we learned that virtually every top competitor in the sport doped. No doubt it is also true in distance running. No reason to believe otherwise. Not to overstate it, because there are certainly still clean athletes, but they have accepted relegation and second class status. They know the score and have realistic ambitions. But clearly others have much more ambition. Houlihan played the game and lost.

There isn't anything grey about it. The CAS finding now upheld on appeal is black and white. Nandrolone is a banned drug. She had no acceptable excuse. End of argument.

Actually they wisely chose to not include the question whether she doped in the lie detector test. They only asked whether she doped knowingly with nandrolone.
I see your point but I think many of us are less forgiving of Shelby because she is continuing to declare her innocence and that the system failed her. If she just came clean that it was a tainted supplement (or whatever she actually did) people would be more sympathetic I think.

Correct. But the drug cheat apologists usually come later to the thread, as they don't want to be laughed out of town by hundreds of posters.

Agreed. This seems like the most logical and likely scenario. As a top Nike athlete, we know she was necessarily pushing the envelope when it comes to supplements and science. It seems reasonable to deduce that somewhere along the way a substance got in there that wasn't supposed to and it triggered the positive. I have no reason to believe that she intentionally took a banned substance, and I think she probably doesn't know exactly where it originated... but, if you're taking supplements, etc. that you're not personally and entirely sure about, then you must live with the consequences. It's unfortunate- I am personally willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and believe her when she claims she did not knowingly cheat, but that's life.
