The United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the United States Women's National Team Players Association (USWNTPA) and the United States National Soccer Team Players Association (USNSTPA) have agreed to a deal that achieves "e...
The women will make more from endorsements and sponsorships than the men will. Alex Morgan, Christen Press, Rose Lavelle, and even Tobin Heath, have more endorsment power than the men do. The only men's player on the USMNT with decent endorsement power might be Christian Pulisic
The men will get paid a lot more by their clubs. I imagine what the tops guys are paid by the national federation is a drop in the ocean compared to their club salaries.
Imagine if we paid all YouTubers the same. "Yea, Mr. Beast has millions of views on his channel and brings in millions in revenue for YouTube, but we should also pay some random person who gets 1/1,000,000 the views the same amount, because they are doing the same job."
So, bright boy, how are the USWNT & USMNT not doing the same jobs? By your logic, the women should be getting paid more because internationally, they are exponentially more successful than the men's team. They are also a lot more popular. The USWNT gets a lot more viewship than the USMNT does. It's really not even close. As Temp Oh pointed out, the men, for the most part, are still paid a lot more by their club teams.
Women far outnumber men in the world and in this country. They could easily have equal pay and then some if they were to convince women to follow their sport the way men follow men's soccer. In every other business on the planet, an individual's pay is determined by the value they bring to their employer.
Pulisic probably earns more money in a year than the whole of the women's team put together.
The amount that players earn through international football is essentially zero for the men compared to their club salaries, but it is significant for the women. Most European teams give their international fees to charity.

I am not saying they are not doing the same job. I am illustrating that simply doing the same job does not mean we should pay the same. If person A doing job A brings in $100K and person B doing job A brings in $50K, should we pay them the same?
If they are truly bringing in more revenue than fine, they should be paid more, but they should not be paid the same for the sole reason of "doing the same job".
And exponentially more successful is all relative. If you have a runner in a district with 1000 kids and they run 2:05 and WIN the 800, do we say they are exponentially more successful than the runner in a district with 5000 kids who came in 10th, but ran 1:55????
It seems to me that men’s and women’s soccer are two different sports. One is played by men; one is played by women. Why do they need to be part of the same association? Just separate the two, and let each side negotiate their own TV contracts, events, marketing deals, etc. Then, each side can pay the players from their respective pots.
The women don’t want that, because the men’s TV rights are massive globally, even if the US team usually sucks. They want a piece of it.
BTW, women’s soccer is kind of a joke outside the US. I lived with a couple English gals when there in college, and they laughed at the idea that soccer is much more than a man’s game.

This is what happens when you comment without knowing the details at all.

And we have ANOTHER who is completely ignorant of the details.

I wouldn't, but that's my personal feeling.
Well you’ll be pleased to know that STILL is not what is happening.
Americans confusing how football players make the vast vast majority of the money is amusing.
Just came here to see the inevitable meltdown by the misogynists and the laughably ignorant "no one watches womens sports" posts and was not disappointed. in the end the mens team AGREED to this contract so why attack the women for getting it? count that money ladies...
They are doing the job of representing the United States so should get paid the same. In fact, you could make a strong case that the women do a much better job representing the US than the men do so should get more.
This has nothing to do with professional sports - a business that needs to turn a profit.Do not confuse a national team with a private one.

You’re VERY confused about what is happening here. Kudos for not letting that stop you from typing all of that.

Imagine arguing that USWNT gets “1/1,000,000 the views” of USMNT.
