Come on man, this isn’t life or death, it could wait two weeks, thus will not make him more marketable and will not improve his performance. not like he was about to give birth and had to have insurance to cover it. sport is becoming a joke
Who cares about the new fad? If you had the opportunity to live out a pro dream, just do it. What does he have left to accomplish at a NCAA meet (to destroy the competition)? For the school? Running is very individualistic in nature, and maybe that's the move he wanted.
Also maybe he is thinking June? Not having to do extra work at D2 nationals, and is thinking bigger picture? Trying to grow his brand while he is on top, knowing that not doing to nationals would (and is) creating more of a buzz than if he did.
Well little boy, Noble is 24 yes old, he doesn’t have a brand, he is not going to have a brand, he is the same age as Tuntivate if Bowerman who is already faster and has competed in the Olympic, he isn’t going to be a household name. He us lucky to get some small contract with the women’s shoe company known as new balance.
Wow, such proper grammar from such a strong man. ;) Oh sorry, I won't assume a gender, a strong person ;)
And may I ask why you believe he doesn't have a brand? People are their own brands.
Also Noble is 25, not 24. And Tuntivate "if" (of I presume you meant) Bowerman competed with Thailand. Which if my math serves me correctly, is a much smaller population than that of The United States? Could be wrong though. So why are you making the comparison?
The brand he is that that he dominated D2 from out of nowhere and set the D2 records to turn bro, somewhat reminiscent of Windle and Symmonds (D3). I would assume that this has to do with either 1) he had an injury or illness and wouldn't win D2 Nats; 2) the money is available now but might be taken by D1 studs after their nationals; or 3) they are prioritizing the big stage of U.S. trials and want him peaking for that, rather than D2 Nats.
Not to take away from his accomplishments cause Noble is obviously a beast but idk how you can look at the dudes championship record and conclude that’s he’s been dominating D2

I mean he is the 11th best collegian All-time in the 1500…

“Championship Record” as in, he sort of has a history of dropping the ball in championship settings.
The more I think about, the more I"m fine with it in this case. It's kind of like Kiptoo and Iowa State. Noble has given a lot to the school and he's 25 and probably wants to chase the 1500 standard and it's not like a D2 title means that much so the coach is probably fine with it as well as making worlds might mean more to the program.
But in general, I don't think we should be pressuring people to go pro mid-season or really even giving that as on option.
The idea that an athlete gets nothing out of scholarship bothers me. It should be clear, you are on scholarship to run track for the university, we expect you to run track for us.
The @LeeUTFXC star and 3x NCAA Division II record holder will forgo the remainder of his eligibility and will debut a @NBRunning kit at the Pre Classic‼️https://t.co/aVdgUU5rbT
The coach is happy with it so it's all good but in general, I hope going pro midseason isn't a thing. If college football players start quitting midseason more often (not just Bowl Games), it's going to suck as well.
When you think about it, some of you are talking about BYU guys being too old and then this Noble guy is 25 so maybe chasing a NCAA II title isn’t his highest priority any more. This Noble guy has likely got some room for improvement but at 25 he may not improve as much as NB expects so he is smart to take the deal and very well could end up like Drew Hunter.
What business is it of yours what this guy does? Don't say "it's bad for the sport." That can be said about almost anything, including this board, that someone doesn't like.
