Still the fastest women's 4x400 relay ever as both USA and USSR break the previous World Record. This race produced the current World Record, American Recor...
say it again for the folks who only think Abby is fast.
Who only thinks Abby is fast? She appears to be more than fast. I believe that she graduated with nearly a 4.0 GPA and will more than likely be studying physical therapy at some point. If this whole professional sprinting thing doesn’t work out for her she will still have a good career. From what I have heard about her, she is also a genuinely good person. That seems like someone that has a lot more going for them than being “only fast.” 😂

But we are talking about athletics. I'm glad she has other talents beside sprinting, because her sprinting talents, such as they are, do not appear that they will take her to the acme of the sport.
The women's 400m has been one of the most stagnant events of the last 3 decades, several of the top 400m sprinters in the world are an 800m runner and 400m hurdlers. Wilson and Steiner both would have decent shot at making the U.S. team in the open 400m, but and big but, they would to make it through the rounds.

Wouldnt make it through the rounds? What are you talking? Wilson ran ridiculously fast in the 400 THREE times in ONE day!
Did you catch the huge blunder at the end of 4/4 when Dwight Stone? announced the wrong team had won? The race is right in front of him and he could see Kentucky was leading the whole last lap.. how could you mess that up? I understand everyone makes mistakes but that was really bad.
I dont want to turn this into a Dwight Stone bashing because I know some people frequently complain about the announcing. Im just writing about this specific instance because I just cant follow how that could happen based on what he's looking at.
If Britton Wilson can improve to Olympic finalist caliber, she appears to have huge star potential.
Why? Do you know how many American runners have made an Olympic final and still most people have no idea who they are?
I thought about including a qualifier—“huge star potential” when compared with other Olympic track athletes. The kind of athlete that NBC commentary spends an inordinate amount of time talking about when the OTs and OGs come around.

She's attractive, but she will need more than that.
People have talked about if McLaughlin or Muhammad are able to make a global team in both the 400 and 400H, but neither has so far. If Wilson can beat them to it, that would help a lot.
Wilson trains on the same track as Tara Davis and Hunter Woodhall. If Wilson wants to get better known she should talk her way into appearing in some of their vlogs and TikToks.

I was addressing 44561, in sort of a tongue-in-cheek manner, to show that Steiner has a lot more going for her than just her speed. 44561 stated "say it again for the folks who only think Abby is fast." I was being a bit of a smart ass with my reply. I know that 44561 was trying to say that there are other fast 400 runners aside from Steiner but expressed it to state that her speed is all that she has.
That said, why are you certain that Steiner talents "do not appear that they will take her to the acme" (of the sport)? I could be wrong but does she still not have one of the top 10 times in the world this season in both the 100 & 200? In the truest sense of the word "acme," there can only be one sprinter that hold that position. At the time that person appears to be ETH until someone removes her from that position. All of the other are in the top echelon. Do you have a reason to believe that Steiner will not be in the top echelon of sprinters at some point if he isn't already? If you use the word "acme" in the truest sense of what it means, and I don't believe that was your intention, I'll agree that Steiner will never be the top sprinter in the world. There are only a handful that ever will. If you mean for "acme" to signify the top echelon, and I believe that you do, I would like to hear a reasoned argument for why you believe that.
The woman has a "rough" weekend in which she clocks 11.02, 22.07, and a 48.7 split and people are ready to write her off and bury her...SMH
In a way, Abby's performance for me echoes how Tuohy kept getting denied, then popped a seemingly effortless 4:06 CL. It must have been very gratifying to finish her rough day at the office like that (no diss to Wilson or Ofili who were both nails)
There has also been a lot of talk about her form. Her current form seems to work OK for her but I can't help thinking that she would be faster with her old form. It is simple physics and mechanics. Does anyone know who will be coaching her when she turns pro? My guess is that if a different coach than her Kentucky coach, they will begin addressing her form ASAP.
When did she switch mechanics, approximately? Interested in seeing the difference. If there's a good thread on this someone could point me to re: her form it would be much appreciated.
