Started weight training about 5-6 months back and started using a belt a couple months back not knowing that the standard advice is for beginners to train without a belt for at least 1-2 years.
I’d have to go down maybe 10-15% in weight to feel not weird without a belt now, which is fine as even with the belt, I feel like I’m beginning to plateau on what used to be steady 5lb weekly gains, but I’m wondering what the best next step is for good training with low injury risk: dial down weight and stop using the belt or stick with the belt at this point?
I do feel the abdominal pressure you are supposed to feel with the belt, and much less so without it, but I’m also reading online that beginners just don’t know how to brace abs properly, so I’m not confident I’m doing it right.
