At least I know that Paul means CP3. I wouldn't put Middleton, Herro (two r's), Beal (no d), or Holiday (one l) on that list. Kawhi has got to be able to play basketball to be on the list. When's the last time he played basketball? Gobert and Siakam have something that Leonard had when he could play, exceptional defense. It's something that more Americans need to play. But if you think the rest of the world competes hard at basketball, you are sorely mistaken. Have you ever been out of the country? I've watched the growth of international basketball and it has been terrific. But soccer is by far the most popular sport in the world and basketball is very distant and hardly even played by many people. The quality has grown in urban areas in some countries but there are hardly any courts in rural areas of most countries and no basketball leagues in many countries.
Giannis, Jokic, KD, LeBron, Luka, Embiid, Kyrie (per game), Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler (when it counts), Anthony Davis, Booker, Paul, Curry, Gobert, Siakam. There's a good number of Americans in the list but something's happening here. It is entirely possible that the American development system in basketball is almost as bad as in soccer, but we haven't noticed because most other countries don't compete that hard in basketball.
Yes, the rest of the world competes hard at basketball. If you think Gobert and Siakam are on that list and not Americans Kris Middleton, Dame, CP3, Jrue Holliday, Tyler Hero, Bradley Beal, Donovan Mitchell and Kawhi Leonard then you know zilch about the greatest sport ever invented.
As a Jazz fan, I can tell you that Gobert is a much better player than Mitchell. Beal is similar to Mitchell. Herro isn't even a starter. CP3 was mentioned. Leonard didn't even play this season. Dame was not good this season and may be well past his prime. Middleton is good but not as good as Gobert or Siakam. Jrue is good but not easier better than any of the Americans on the list. Weakest players listed were Kyrie and Davis.

Nothing you said is true. No wonder you’re a Jazz fan.

I didn’t say that it was equivalent in participation and popularity to soccer. I said that internationally the rest of the world “competes hard” at basketball. How I define that vague terminology (high-level pro leagues, strong player development channels, good coaching of fundamentals) this is a true statement.
I like Siakam’s game. Kawhi, Middleton and Jrue are obviously better. Goebert is a joke.
Current top 5 are (in no particular order): Lebron, KD, Kawhi, Giannis, Embiid
3 Americans, 2 not
Cases could be made for Curry, Butler, Jokic
2 more Americans, 1 not
We judge OP to be . . .
INCORRECT!
Do you watch ad follow basketball?
The top 4 without question are Giannis, Luca, Jokic and Embiid. They are heads and shoulders over the rest. Their stats and their results and their effect on teammates are excellent.
The only argument is who would be in fourth place. The is going to be very subjective. LeBron's team didn't even make the playin tournament (just about every team makes that) Sure LeBron scored a ton but his effect on his teammates and particularly the organization is a huge negative. He is out.
Cases could be made for Booker, Curry, Butler, Rudy Gobert, Domantas Sabonis, Durant, Bogdanovic, Vucevic.

Sabonis, Bogdanovic and Vucevic over Tatum? Right. And Gobert is a one-dimensional player. His only offense consists of dunking.

Two years later and I still can't forgive Rudy Gobert...if he wouldn't have tested positive for Covid in March of 2020, the NBA would never have shut down the league which set the precedent for everything else that happened over the next few months. It was the first domino to fall in a series of over-reactions. It's all your fault, Rudy!
Not surprising. The NBA purposefully has spent the last 30 years seeking to make basketball an international sports. Why? More money. There’s 7 billion on the planet and only 300 million in America. Therefore the numbers are not surprising.
