Shiit I forgot Prague, Budapest and Vienna. I probably liked those more than some on my list. I did not enjoy French cities too much.
Zadar
Paris
San Francisco
Taormina
Barcelona
If I was limited to living in five cities for the rest of my life this would be my list. Most of my foreign travel has been to Western Europe with recent trips to Beijing, Shanghai, Hanoi, and Saigon.
Hanoi
Barcelona
Paris
San Francisco

Montreal
Vancouver
NYC
Santa Fe/Taos NM
Top 5 seems like an impossible question.
Almost any big European City could be in the top 5.
Here is my random list based on my experiences I had.
1. Paris
2. Singapore
3. Kolkata, India
4. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
5. La Paz, Bolivia
But I could name another 25 which are up there as well.
I won't try to rank them but here are some cities I've enjoyed visiting.
- Duluth, MN. Lake Superior is incredible and Duluth has a cool vibe that is a combo of college town/port city/rust belt post-industry/tourism. Somewhat unique in that regard I think.
- Philadelphia, PA. Of course this is exactly the type of place LR likes to s*** on but I've visited 2 or 3 times and really enjoyed it. Parts of the city are very walkable and have cool bars and restaurants that aren't as outrageously expensive as other east coast cities. The museums are top notch and there are some good paths along the rivers. Unlike the vast majority of other big American cities, I could actually see myself living in Philly.
- Bamberg, Germany. I usually hate visiting places as a pure tourist but I absolutely loved it here. Was there for a day trip last summer. The old city looks like something out of a fairy tale but in a good way. Tons of little cafes and beer gardens. Spezial at the top of the hill has really nice views as you sit under the trees. The beer at Schlenkerla is better but it's more cramped and has no views.
- Regensburg, Germany for many of the same reasons as Bamberg. It's bigger and has a large university. I just get a kick out of walking around the cobblestone streets of ancient cities since I've lived my whole life in places that where the oldest buildings are barely 100 years old.
Germany is the only foreign country I've visited besides Canada and the Bahamas. Never spent much time in cities in those places. I've been to a bunch of other cities here in the good ol' U.S.A. but most of them didn't make much of an impression. I'll round out my top 5 with Chicago because it's so huge there's a lot to do there, and I have good friends who live there so I end up visiting a lot and having a good time.
1. Portland
2. Seattle
3. San Francisco
4. LA
5. Austin
I love seeing homeless people shoot up, and these cities let me get the best view.

Not really into visiting "cities" when I travel...more of a beach and/or nature guy, but here are the cities:
1) San Francisco - I know the Trumpers like to rip on any "liberal" city, but San Francisco is unique and beautiful.
2) New York - I've been there several times, and it's a good time.
3) Washington DC - Obviously unique.
4) Los Angeles - Very different from the other cities, but lots to see and do there.
5) Chicago/Nashville - Tied for 5th. Chicago for the food. Nashville for the music history.
Lots of people here can't count.
Chicago crime is scary. In Baltimore/Detroit/St Louis it's all concentrated in sh1thole neighborhoods, but in Chicago normal people have been shot and even killed in the Loop
In no specific order...
1. Cape Town
2. Agra
3. Barcelona
4. Kyoto
5. Yangon
In no special order
Berlin
London
Edinburgh
Tampare
Rome
(at one time Portland, Or would have been on this list but not since the last time I was there last year)
