Not traditionally, I mean in a single year. I was discussing this with my friend and names like Jesuit, Kingwood and of course Mead and York came up.
He swears by Mead in 1993, but I'm thinking York high.
Any stats or good debate out their to support either side, or another team???

Give me a day, I'll come up with stats that finally prove that Mead is the team! The kicked my ass in high school and while they were at Oregon, these guys had rumors of drug use in high school they were so dominant!
I would have to say Klamith Union in 1999. Ian Dobson, Jacob Gomez, and Lauren Jesperson all came from that team. Ok, maybe they're not the greatest, but pretty damn good. Ian Dobson is already a proven standout, and Gomez and LJ are on their way! All stanford!

they are good, but what did they do collectively on that team in 1999? That's the question here. For example the Mead team had 5 guys run like 4:13 or better for 1600 that year, pretty sick. Both they and York had crazy #1 guys, and a load of talent behind. Plus you'd have to throw in 2 more men for a top 5.

Are you kidding me? they may well have been on drugs, but still pale in comparison to the sage - York team!!
South Eugene in the 70's. Damn they were good
Albertus Magnus of the early to mid 70s. In one season, 7 guys under 9:28 for true 2 mile. Also, 6 of them were under 4:28 for the true mile. 7 under 13:07 on the old (tougher) Van Cortland Park course.
The greatest team was the 1999 York Dukes! There was no team that could come close. They had a true front runner in Don Sage (4:00 Miler in high school) and about 5 other guys who could run 9:15 for two miles.
Mead 1993 - #5 guy ran 9:06 the following spring. They averaged under 9:10 for all five with the number 1 guy Matt Davis out of the senior track season (injured.)
Lompoc … more - Alvin Gilmore (4:08.2y), Terry Williams (4:07.0y / 8:54.8y / 9:02i / 47:27 - 10 mile), Jim Schankel (8:57 - 47:43 10 mile), coupla 9:1x, Jim Warrick (9:20), can’t remember all of em. Uncharacteristically dominant in So Cal ... in the day. Reportedly had ~10+ guys under 9:30. Woulda been a good dance with South Eugene. (Distance Medley Relay - 9:59.5). Not as familiar with recent - I'm an old guy
Hammond High School. Indiana. I believe they had three guys at 8:55-9:05 for the duece back in the mid 70s. Rudy Chappa being one of them.

But if i remember correctly the didnt even win state because the had no 4th or 5th man.
w/e all giant invites can be won with 3 front runners under 9:00!
As far as anything I've seen goes, no teams compare to what the York 1999 or the Mead 1993 teams did in a single season. And then they further solidified themselves during their following track seasons.
Has anyone ever really tried to break it down and compare?
One thing that makes it rough, Meads 1st guy was injured just after state XC, and thus footlocker regionals (4 weeks later) and nationals (another week later) with basically no running. the same injury kept him out of the track season.
York has a short state course so it's hard to compare times in cross from their state meets.
But it would be good to see their average 5k or 3M. splits for the top five.
What about top 5 1600m & 3200m prs from the respective years?
I'll have a lot of info soon to finally put this thing to rest, and prove mead was the team.

Didn't that Kingwood team with Eric Henry, etc. in the late 1980s have several guys under 9:20? I know all of their guys ran D. I, and several were all Americans. Their DMR time and 4 x 1600 times were unreal.
