Keira D’Amato is absolutely a great marathoner. You know who beat her at the Olympic Trials? Molly Seidel. Most of the even the best female marathoners would struggle to go sub 2:20 on a course that isn’t completely or mostly flat. The Boston record is BARELY under 2:20 (2:19:59). If you want to make the apples to apples time comparisons, track is a more appropriate sport to do it since the fewer variables from one competition to another.
But what’s so surprising and frankly sad is the persistent compulsion to downplay or diminish the accomplishments of an Olympic medalist. Why is the statement “Molly Seidel is a great marathoner” so triggering to you? Who hurt you?
