Wrong, Most AD's have no idea what a "sub 1:50" means. you would have to tell them what event just for context. This is not my idea of running comprehension.
There's no mention of the girls team. They're national record holders. There's a tonne to build on the back of this. I don't see Brosnan jumping ship because the boys programme won't have insane depth.
Is there much of a reason to mention the girls team? They lose 3 of their top 5 after this year and there is a big drop after their top 2 retiring with a major cliff after their top 3 returning. Maybe they get some new incoming girls and transfers, but there isn’t much to build on currently on the team.
Not that insane depth isn’t there on the boys side, but more like they could be way down other than Doshi who may not improve as much as one might think without the leadership in front of him.
Things look bleak, but you never know who could show up.
Well, looks like the next wave is coming. Based on history of where they get their recruits, the next batch has already run in 8th grade for 1600:
Micah Dickran 4:45
Adrian Cantu 4:48
Noah Sloan 4:49
Maxwell Roe 4:56
Gabriel Bernardino 4:56
Eli Zasloff 4:59
Probably others as well. Not a bad hand to be dealt.

Do you know for certain that they're all headed to NP? Out of curiosity I looked up Dickran on athletic net. Already this season he's run 54.55, 2:04.78, 4:45.16, 10:37.87. Not bad for an 8th grader.

Dickran runs for the Cosmos. That’s who the Sahlman and the Young ran for. So I would say the odds are high.
Adrian Cantu runs for Santa Clarita. The same as Aaron Cantu. So odds are high there too.
i don’t know why you would think that Noah Sloan is going to NP however.
He’s a teacher so I highly doubt he will leave that cushy CalSTRS pension. It would be real dumb to leave for a potentially higher paying job (and coaching might not even pay more) that won’t last because coaching isn’t typically a long-term gig and miss out on progress for the full pension. He’d need a massive offer like $200k+ to make it worthwhile. And how many distance only assistant coaches make $200k+ in the last 20 years? You can probably count them on one hand.
Combine that with the fact he'll never get the depth of raw talent that landed on his doorstep with the Young and Sahlman brothers and realistically there's nowhere to go but down after the class of '23 graduates.
Currently there are 6 sophomores and 1 freshman boy on the track distance squad. That's pretty telling that seeds are not being planted for the future.
So does Brosnan end up coaching in college, a pro team/club, or will he do something else outside of running?
Who wants to take that $1 bet against me?
To be sure, he's done a phenomenal job and this is not a knock against him. It's rare that we fully take advantage of opportunity that comes our way in life, but he certainly has done just that.
My thoughts Brosnan is still very young early 40's. He is arguably one of the best if not the best high school coach there has ever been. I think Brosnan may leave Newbury Park. He is married and I believe has a family to help support. I think a number of NCAA Division 1 XC and Track and Field Programs would love to have him. Considering a Head XC Coach at a weak NCAA Division 1 program probably brings in $50,000 a year, Brosnan is the one of the best I would be willing to be bet he would start at $90,000 minimum as a first year and once his formula kicks in and his team starts dominating he would rack in $250,000+ later on in his career he the type of coach that makes 7 figures. If he did take a college position next year if I was one of his high school runners no doubt I would go where he goes.

A 7 figure college distance coach? 7 figures means $1 million per year. You must be crazy!

You're living in lala land. Brosnan has done a great job. But the number of colleges that carry about distance runners can be counted on one hand. And those that are high paying aren't hiring a HS coach, even a good one.
He's going to have to be an assistant somewhere. And an assistant means that he isn't paid as well, and that his group (distance) probably won't be emphasized.
If he wants to go D1 route, he'll get paid 50k at at a mid-major, or if he's lucky 60-70k at an assistant at a good G5 or lower rung P5.
The only people making 250k in track, are track coaches winning NCAA championships. NAU doesn't even pay their head that for winning XC champs.
P5 head coaches earn on average $250k. Distance coaches earn $100k. Mid major head coaches earn $100k amd distance coaches earn $50k. You are correct that nobody earns $1M. ADs don't like hiring HS coaches either.

Arkansas late coach made 7 figures. The Oregon Coach hit that number, Vin made it at Stanford, pretty sure Michigan's made around that. There are a number of 7 figure track coaches. I would say you are pretty insane to think there are not.

started late in life. doesn't have many years in the system. wouldn't be missing out on much to leave right now.
i just don't see him as the type to toil away as a high school teacher until he is 67 years old just to collect the pension.

You're aware that you can lookup these coaches salaries. Public records for state universities.
Oregon's head track coach gets paid 350,000 a year for his base. With bonuses, it gets up to 500-600k if he wins everything.
Holloway at Florida's base salary is around 320,000. With bonuses and perks, it comes out to around 500k.
No idea. Just know his brother is on the team from the videos of their team. He’s always hanging around.
So that crop is even better than the Lex, Aaron S. and Leo crop?
Looks pretty similar. A few questions:
1)if they are as fast at the same age as the Young/Sahlman class, we should expect similar results, right? if not, what would the reason be?
2) with the exception of Doshi, who ran 5:00 as a 7th grader, which means he probably would have run similar times as the Young/Sahlman crew, the rest of the current freshman and sophomores are not even close to the Young/Sahlman class. Why aren’t there even a couple that are close to that group? Two years with only one decent runner - why?
3) if the incoming Freshmen turn out somewhat as good as the Young/Sahlman class, but the current freshmen and sophomores don’t get close by the end of their careers, what does that tell us?
