katelyn has faster raw speed, 4:33 mile, 4:12 1500m(season opener time), 8:53 3000m
natalie cook is fast, yes she is, but theres no way would she would win against tuohy now that tuohy has cut down her finishing speed to 36s to 31s in just 3 months
its funny how posters here seek for relevance using katelyn tuohy's name, i mean .. jenna hutchins is natalie cook's age group competitor, natalie cook beat jenna hutchins record, they are both hs seniors (well jenna graduated early) but still the match up should be cook vs hutchins and not tuohy vs cook
BUT I GUESS PEOPLE WON'T CARE AND CLICK IF TUOHY IS NOT IN IT, SO OF COURSE THEY WOULD USE TUOHY'S POPULARITY TO PROMOTE SOMEONE ELSE
She's put out a lot of photos on her social media. And of course she put it out there as she's proud to be going there. Pretty much every hs kid does this sort of thing when they sign with a program/school, in every sport.
But that doesn't mean it's the go-to pic to use in every story about them. To my point, it shouldn't be used at all unless it's a story about that person being accepted to that college.
In the meantime, you use photos of them in the kit with the team they are racing/playing for.
Think of it this way: You have a New Balance athlete whose contract is up at the end of the season. They have signed a contract with Nike for next season. (you see where this is going right?) During the current season you would never post a pic of them in a Nike kit and of course being professionals they would never post a pick of them in a Nike kit before their contract expired in the first place.
Not a perfect analogy because this is HS and nobody signs a contract with their high school. However, it's her hs (teammates, coaches, teachers, etc.) that have been with her since day 1 and to not let her represent her school is simply not the way to do things. OSU hasn't done anything for her up until now. Give credit where credit is due.
OP is so desperate to get natalie cook attention that they use tuohy's name, she did not break tuohy's record, she broke jenna hutchins record yet people seem to not really care .. unless shes in the same sentence as katelyn tuohy.
natalie cook's 5k record race only getting 29k views, meanwhile a 3-min katelyn tuohy interview gets 35k views
i guess thats the motive for this post and the posts ahead
No, I'm stating that the Brojos went to private schools as kids. In that world, it's not abnormal to be held back or re-class, so 19 at high school graduation wouldn't be considered super old. In the public school world, 19 at high school graduation is old.
Bednarek turned 19 October senior year. Kelati turned 19 sophomore year. Cook's parents decided to start her 3 months late. So what? Looks like they made a genius decision. What a bunch of jealous people to put down the fastest American HS runner in history.
What a bunch of jealous people to put down the fastest American HS runner in history.
you sound like the other runner being talked in this thread isn't the fastest HS runner in history
need i remind you that tuohy has records in the mile, 3200, 3000, indoor 5000, u20 3000m ?? also has 4:14 hs pr in the 1500m
maybe you tell natalie cook fans and this OP to stop using katelyn tuohy's name to get clicks, because last time i checked she broke jenna hutchin's outdoor 5000m record and not tuohy's indoor record so maybe use hutchins name as they are both in the same or rather close age group
It is not that hard a question. Going into the race at indoor nationals 11 of the 16 participants had better lifetime PRs than KT and 15 had run faster this season. Did not help them at all. KT was able to run with Wayment and Chelangat who have lifetime PRs under 15:20. Plus you have to look at whether a race is tactical or not. A 15:30 in a race where you had 200m splits as high as 42 seconds is an excellent time and indicates a high PR potential. I thought her race at the ACC championship was the best she ever looked up to that point based on how she closed regardless of the final time. That 15:41 in a slow developing race was more impressive to me than her faster high school record race. Winning in the NCAAs depends on closing speed.
Based on degree of difficulty (solo effort vs. pacers and drafting until the finish line, 200m track vs. 400m track, etc) I thought Tuohy's 15:37 was the most impressive of the recent record runs. I think Hutchins and Cooks races were more comparable given that Hutchins had to run the final half of the race from the front of cooking recipes. The fact that KT was 15 is an bonus.
I thought if Katelyn ran the 5000 at Boston and not the 3000 she would have broken 15:20 there and taken the U20 in the 5000. Right now I think she can run 15:10-15 in a fast race, and possibly below 15:10 if she got into a pro race and was being pulled along. Not going to happen though. She will get a qualifying time and try to win the 5000 outdoors in another tactical race.
Dear leo, both are good players. But i think katelyn will have the upper hand here. She is a distance runner and has exceptionally good conditioning. In fact she is one of the best women runners in the world right now. She is also smart enough to pace herself well in the race. As for cook, she is well known for her speed. But she will be struggling with the longer distance. They both should be the favorites to win, but i think Tuohy has a slight advantage here.
