Could be a simple case of Webb reaching his athletic peak a lot earlier than most of the rest of the world. That's not a reflection of him, his college choice or his current coach.
He definitely appears to lack confidence and racing savvy.

Super Swede-
You're on. A small, friendly wager of $5 says the mile is won in under 4mins this weekend at the Relays. And why do you have to diss on Roy Williams and the Jayhawks? That's just low, brother.
Junior-
What are you up to these days? I hear word along the grapevine that you are competing a bit. And where are you now? I am going to see to good doctor Maher this Friday when we are back in Lawrence for the Relays.
5 bucks it is. Has anyone cracked 4 since Michael?

There has been a lot of discussion and criticism of Webb's decision to leave UM and go back to high school. I think he had a tough time adjusting to University, as most kids do. He probably also had a tough time adjusting to a big school workout routine, although you may not know it from having read the articles when he first started at UM, e.g., when he ran the workout they call the Michigan. Time will soon tell. However, I wonder who he is training with now. Does he have a partner or two that can he can do track sessions with. We all know the value of running workouts with people at the same level. It gets us through those tough reps. If he has anyone that is pushing him now, I haven't heard about it. I think this may be a cause for concern and another reason he may want to consider joining the Nike Farm team or moving back out west and training with some known runners at altitude.
As of a few months ago, he did not have any training partners and was not looking for any.
