I don't think this is a good take in the slightest. The entire appeal of LetsRun (whatever negative things people say about it) is that it has anonymous posting. Take away that, and the "world famous message board" goes away. This isn't just social media for runners, it's a place where real fans of the sport can be honest and say what they really think.
You may reply that this is exactly the problem with LetsRun. You're entitled to your opinion, but you are also welcome to stop visiting the site at any time. I'm a little tired of people complaining about how much these forums are "toxic". Maybe the fact that every other thread has a post about how idiotic the site managers and how bad the site is contributes to it being "toxic".
And besides it's really not that bad. The recent efforts to limit the amount of handles people can use, the better post reporting system, and the voting has potential to push things in a better direction.
It appears as if you're good with people bashing on kids that are 14, 15, & 16 years old and being "honest about is and say(ing) what they really think." Because that is how old Katelyn Tuohy was when anonymous posters here were bashing her and analyzing every little thing that she did. She was a kid for God's sake. Kids should be allowed to be kids. Even though she is now a young woman, she is still a youth and young adults should be allowed to be themselves without coming under constant scrutiny. Someone earlier in this thread, HSCoach or someone like that, mentioned that is it unhealthy for people to look for negative comments about themselves on social media or the internet. That may be true, but it is a reality that it happens.
I listened to most of the interview. Tuohy is a very well-adjusted person and she has her head on straight. She is better adjusted than many adults that are a lot older than she is. She was spot on in calling out LetsRun. Emma is also a good interviewer. She is a positive influence for women and females in the sport. I can remember something that Emma wrote for Runner's World not too long ago. She told young runners that their body was going to change and that is OK. It is what happens. That is the sort of positive message that young female runners should be hearing instead of the negative crap that gets posted here. If you're tired of people complaining about these forums being "toxic," well that is too bad. The last time that I checked this is the United States of America and folks can still post opinions without being concerned about people like you getting your teeny tiny whittle feelings hurt..."oh, booohoooo. I'm so tired of people saying that these forums are toxic..." What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. If you don't like people stating that these forums are toxic, then don't read those comments.
Lastly, while the anonymous aspect of this forum may be good in some aspects, the negative aspects probably outweigh any good. If you believe that the "World Famous Message Board" would go away if the forum was not anonymous, that would seem to indicate that many things are being posted here that people wouldn't post otherwise because they don't have enough sack to post those things in a format that is not anonymous.
I only occasionally read these forums. I still come back every now and then and I hope that they've changed. They really haven't. It's the same old, same old, and is still a place that is teeming with women-hating incels. And even worse, many that hate on kids.

+1
I wonder how long is the list of HS and college aged runners (and parents of those) who think this forum is good?
I am glad she has risen above the negativity on this site and is thriving in college. Hopefully she knows that there are people on here that wish her nothing but success!
I think a lot of the negativity just comes with being super good. A poster above talks about "Nasty Creeps" but most of the Tuohy stuff was more along the lines of "She'll burn out, she won't be that good as a pro." etc.
Like someone said people say of the basketball stars.
Watch all Workout Wednesday videos here: https://flosports.link/3DMhZT3FloTrack was in Raleigh, NC to catch the 2021 NCAA XC team champions workout on their ...
Imagine having an upcoming running star as your kid and reading the crap that comes up in posts on LRC. What I would love to see is that LRC is changed so that nasty creeps can't hide behind their user name. If LRC was like Facebook so that we could all see the nasty creeps name and picture - that they wouldn't be anonymous nasty creeps - that would probably shut them up because they wouldn't have the courage to be nasty creeps in public. Sure, Tuohy and others have to learn to put up with the sacred "freedom of speech" of nasty creeps but that doesn't mean it's OK. Let the N.C.s show their face in public so they can publicly receive some of the crap they enjoy dishing out.
