With some time to reflect on World Indoors who are your biggest winners and losers from the meet?
Maybe I shouldn't be surprised but Marc Scott getting a bronze was a big surprise to me. He did run 12:56 indoors so maybe I shouldn't have been shocked, but considering how badly Great Britain did at the meet it was a nice medal for him, for Bowerman, and for his country.
Ajee' Wilson crushing the field was a nice thing to see. We shouldn't get too carried away however as Chanelle Price has a World Indoor gold to her name and Drew Windle an indoor silver, but if anyone had earned a gold over the last decade on cumulative performance it was her.
I think World Indoors was a nice wake-up call for some in the OAC group. They have been doing really, really well in the first + of the group, but more so crushing the US scene. But there is a jump in class from the US scene to the World Scene and they saw that a bit at this meet. Ollie Hoare talked about winning the meet and was 5th. (Track and field new did rank Ollie Hoare I think 3rd in the world last year whereas we had him 8th.) A dose of reality can be very good long term. Could help them be more of a factor outdoors than if they had skipped this meet.
Ethiopia as a whole looked great and hopefully the federation realizes it needs to allow doubles outdoors.
What am I missing?
Trevor Bassitt became a name for me but he probably won't make the outdoor Worlds team.
