8 in 1:58 high. Had a great kick, should've ran faste because i got elbowed and pushed back 120m in.
4x8. First leg in 2 flat. Nice kick again, handed off in first. Got out in 60 :/ We were heavy favorites to win, and uhh, everyone else dropped the ball. 4:15/ 1:56 kid runs 1:59, 2 flat kid runs 2:01 (solid race for him, these guys ran the 8 the day before with me) but our 1:57/4:18 kid doubling after steeple runs 2:06. We were through 3/4 of the race in 6 flat or 6:01, with a small lead. We finish 7 seconds back in 8:07. Idk if i mentioned but this is state quals. So this is the conclusion of my spring season. Idk what happened 2 days ago, but I was definitely expecting states for 4x8. I have the oppertunity for a last chance race, but honestly i'm just trying to put this behind me. I will probably take 10 days off or so(today being day 1), and do easy runs (with some doubles) until july 1st, just trying to build mileage. Ill still be doing strides, and I'm getting a free gym membership with some friends to do some strength work (step ups, lunges, front squats, dips, pullups). Season recap, I was thrown off a bit with my trip, and I certainly never raced up to my potential, but I did suprise myself a bit with my potential, as these track seasons have been the first time I've been healthy in forever. This summer, it's gonna be a lot of easy mileage, some doubles 2/3 times a week, tempos, cruise intervals/cv/ hills and fartleks, with two of the workouts each week once we get going on july 1st. Despite the crap season I am a darkhorse for county champ in xc, (major competition is 4:18 kid but he hasn't ever really trained much over the summer and is probably best suited in races under 3k, and a 10th-11th grader who has poor coaching, but legit talent).
