Not trying to justify anything, just pointing out hypocricy. People who were silent then, have no moral superiority to open their mouths and point fingers now.
Yes, most Crimea tatars were deported to Uzbek SSR in the 40s, but Crimea itself has always been a passing land. It also used to belong to Mongols, then Ottoman Empire and was prospering at the time thanks to frequent raids into Russia for slaves. In 1700s Ottoman Empire was defeated by the Empress of Russia and belonged to Russia until it was ilegally gifted to Ukraine by Khrushchev in the 1950s.
Another genocide of the indigenous I seem to recall is the one that happened in the US. And slavery was also a topic, wasn't it. That's what history is - the strong deafting the weak. And while we might not like it, that's how nature works to this day, the strong and powerful take away from weak and powerless.
You may call the police, but on the world map there is no police. Only countries and alliances. The US wants to be the police, but acts more like a thug or mafia. Russia is taking care of things its own way.
My friend, you may seem to know a European or two, but I live in Europe and know what's going on here, as this is my life and I am confronted with European reality daily. Remember that, Russia always has existed and will exist, regardless of what you wish. Why? Because it has all the natural resources it needs and unbreakable spirit, which Western Europeans seem to lack. I am betting you a house on a lake, that Russia will exist longer than European Union. Italy just had their government collapsed and Hungarian prime minister already went to Moscow to negotiate, as "it is not their war". Two cold winters is what it will take to break Western European spirit.
