Just a thought, but I wonder if people keep insisting that all these runners move up in distance, because they’re white. And it’s sort of assumed that the paler among us are actually distance runners in disguise.
It was meant to be ridiculous. “Boling should run the 400” (when he’s never done anything to show special talent at the 400), is just as ridiculous but is repeated ad nauseum across the trackosphere by NPCs who also did the “Wariner should run the 800” and “Steiner is secretly a 400m runner” schtick

Who was the last white American sprinter to even make our Olympic 4x1 team?
This satire is great because it's literally the way LRC thinks. What impresses them the most is being able to split a 12 second 100m at the end of a mile. They'll argue that if the field can just slow down enough for Boling until the last 100m, Boling can kick for the win and become the world champion.

There should be a 'mythbusters' letsrun edition where they bring in athletes to test things like this.

Not sure, but their are plenty of really explosive honkeys out there. Daphne schippers, that girl who just won the NCAAs 200m. The most explosive athlete I’ve ever seen is Jordan Kilganon, a Canadian who’s as white as the sun.

Who?
I wasn't familiar with this name either, so I did some Googling, and then watched some videos. Mikeh33 is not wrong about this!

What's that you say? He's never shown any special ability in the 1500, and his 6.56 with a horrendous start indicates that he has the top-end speed to run sub-10.1 basic in the 100 this season? Well, that improved top-end speed will only help him that much more in the 1500 ---- no one else in the 1500 has that sort of speed, so once he gets the endurance part down, he'll be nigh-unbeatable!
The 1500 is simply his more natural event. I understand your point that he strains badly at the end of 200 and 400 meter runs and his success in the 200 seems primarily to be a function of his top-end speed, rather than any extraordinary speed maintenance abilities. And - yea - the primary impediment to his 100m performance is that he's losing about 0.10 or more in the first 20 meters. But instead of focusing on sharpening his technique and race patterning for that 20 meters, he should instead focus on developing cardiovascular endurance and lactate mitigation capacity.
Well, yes, I was part of the chorus of voices that suggested that Jeremy Wariner should have moved to 800m. And, yes, now that you mention it I am of the opinion that Abby Steiner will eventually need to transition to the 400m to compete at the international level. Yes, I have always believed Cristophe Lemaitre was more naturally suited for the 400m than the event in which he won an Olympic medal. And, finally, yes, I long contended that Michael Vick should have been moved to running back. I have no idea what any of that has to do with my opinion that Matt Boling is inherently a 1500m runner.
The 1500 might be the call...as part of the Decathlon. If his coach can't keep him from straining in his sprints and he's initially at least competent in all 10 events, why not?
