Once his .....score Georgia points....are over I do expect to see Boling become more a 200m cat. While I can't rule out a 9.95ish 100m he's never going to be a sub 9.90 while I can see a sub 19.90 in his future. 10.1 plus 45ish, yep....200m~~~
I also think he has the potential to be a consistent sub 20 200 guy. But you’re right that might not get him far in the US. But with the state of the long jump now (I know he was only third yesterday but that was in the midst of a triple) his best shot is as a jumper. Which pairs really well with the 200, maybe when he focuses on those two things will really get rolling (though I guess you can’t run a good 200 without a decent 60)
The US has probably 5 of the top 7-8 200m runners in the world? And 3 of the top 4…Extremely hard team to make though there will be an extra spot in all of the 100-400 for the US men. Kerley vs Laird vs Boling vs Coleman even for one spot is going to be fierce. That’s if you slot Bednarek, Lyles (bye) and Knighton in. I do agree it looks like Boling’s best sprint event right now.
I mean, a 60m means nothing thing in-and-of-itself. Yes. Nice hot take, Einstein.
But being capable of a 6.5x now is inherently valuable to him as a sprinter. So...it means SOMETHING, yes. Gimme a break.
Tim Harden, Ronold Pognon, Trell Kimmons, Marcus Brunson, Jason Gardener all ran a sub 6.50 what did they get them in the sprint wars? What was Bolts 60 PR?
Yes if talking points for Georgia cool win the 60 but if talking Bolings sprint future what he does in indoor 60's means nothing.
That sucks for Micah, is there an appeal? I didn’t see it, if I was an official I might have let him run under protest—but he was the only one, right? Sucks.
I didn’t forget about Laird in the 2, I just don’t see him being a big ongoing factor. But I did forget about Slade, a guy I like as much or more than Knighton! Super-deep event. Too bad there is no WC 4x2 relay!
I think I agree with Flo’da, the LJ might be looking as his best shot—but given this PB, he should tough it out in the sprints and see what happens. His problem, as I have said before, is that no aspect of his race has yet been outstanding. Even a guy like Lemaitre—not spectacular in the 100 but a multiple 200 medalist—had a huge stride length to his credit, like Fahnbulleh does now.

You can't honestly be this obtuse....but this SPECIFIC issue seems like an empty well for trolling type stuff, so...maybe you are.
Certainly, as a sprinter running 100s and 200s, the value of improving from a 6.6x capable 60m guy to a 6.5x capable 60m guy would have to be considered as nearly monumental. Now, add in that Boling, himself, is an inherently better finisher than starter. Alllllrighty: now becoming better in the 60 for Boling is like hitting a point multiplier in Scrabble; the rewards start becoming practically exponential.
Explain the differences between Harden, Pognon, Kimmons, et al., and Boling, Whatley. Spend a moment privately and discover the "one of these things is not like the other" detail between that group you mentioned and Boling, and then get back to me. (Hint: it is NOT skin color related.) Let's see if you can figure that out on your own...
Look at all the white sprinters, their best event is always the 200m. LeMaitre a great example.
Jeremy Wariner, Richard Kilby, John Teeter would beg to differ.
I have a bad habit of assuming things are obvious. Was talking about those who ran both sprints. Wariner was a 20.19 cat.
History is full of Hal Davis, Forest Beatty, Kevin Little, Valery Borzov, Kenteris, Mennea, Morrow. Last white sprinters on our Olympic team were Mark Lutz and Larry Questad yep, 200m.
Look at LeMaitre where did he have his success, yep...200m.

Ever heard of 60 world record holder Sam Perry? What did he do in the 100? Talk to ne about the great indoor sprinter Herb Washington the first to run a 5.8, what did he accomplish in the 100? Mel Pender held the 50. 60, 70 indoor world records he won what outdoors? A fast 60 is no guarantees of anything and you have to be told this, really?
Arizona indoor meet local HS kid Lanoris Marshall will run the 60 vs world class sprinters Don Quarrie and Steve Williams, yep....the kid beats them. You ever heard of Marshall?
A 60 has little to do with anything other than the 60. If ya think it does you are wrong.
Tim Harden a 6.43 40, what did he accomplish in the 100?

Lemaitre had success over 100 too, of course. But he trained like an idiot, but still in a way which still allowed him to peter about over 200 for a bit and sneak in a medal.
Also worth nothing: Lemaitre's PR over 60m? 6.55. Wink, wink, WHATLEY.
I agree, Lemaitre's 19.80 is better than his 9.92. BUT, the problem is, that's because he trained LIKE AN IDIOT. If he trained right his 100m would have been VASTLY better. How much better, we'll never know, that's true. But it (100m) prolly would have ended up statistically being his better race, in my opinion. AND it would have helped him squeeze out some more improvement out of his 200m, to boot. But again, we'll never know...cause Lemaitre is an idiot, apparently.
