Btw: this is good commentary. Rupp grimaces, etc… well, it was right there for all to see, but zero commentating in broadcast!! Maybe NErunner03533 should be hired to cover the next race.
Look at what Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin did for televised cycling. A pair like that for running broadcasts, combined with the race recap format, could be quite interesting. But who could it be? That pair set a high bar to meet.

Don’t know them, but trust your example. I’d still go with former runners, but not picking just for a big name, rather people with personality, humor and passion for the sport.

You're exactly right -- they wouldn't be good for running because they were both cyclists and that was part of the magic. But they were also intelligent, gregarious, and had a good rapport. The question is who would be the running equivalent. I heard good things about Des Linden's performance recently but didn't see it myself.
Tough race for Jacob Riley; 35th place in 46:26. What's up with him?
I thought I was the only one who noticed this. I recall from one of the podcasts he has been injured since the olympics and this seems to be a part of his comeback.

I was very down on Des, but by last week I thought she has improved dramatically. I think she's putting in the work and really want to be good at announcing. That cuts her a fair amount of slack in my book.
Sisson is just a killer when healthy. Her willingness to just go into pain and stay there to crush others is impressive.
This is what a clean Galen Rupp looks like. No record breaker here. 42:31 which is barely sub 60 pace for a half marathon except he was only able to go 9.3 miles at sun 60 half marathon pace. Still a solid effort.
This is what an old Rupp who has spent too much time off due to injuries looks like.
Galen is 35. He is younger than Eliud Kipchoge. The real issue here is that Eliud is still doping and Galen is not. This is the real Galen Rupp. In his absolute prime Galen could have dipped under 42 on this course, probably around 41:40. Now he is running 43:30. Some of that is the switch to the marathon and some of it is aging and injuries and some of it is the lack of doping.
Men's Results 1. Nico Montanez 43:09 2. Leonard Korir 43:13 3. Hillary Bor 43:14 4. Abbabiya Simbassa 43:22 5. Colin Bennie 43:25 6. Futsum Zienasellassie 43:28 7. Galen Rupp 43:31 8. Zach Panning 43:31 9. Matthew McClintock 43:56 10. Jacob Thomson 44:09
Top of the women's field was great. But half of the women that ran in the elite race didn't need to be there. No reason to give them a free entry when they should be in the mass start.
If someone uses peds they don't stop until they are caught or they retire. Stop being a Idiot. Not everyone ages as well as Brady but still, he was 8th seven months ago at the olympics and that only gets respect from astute observers.

You speak so assuredly with such astounding ignorance.
Can we stop obsessing over Rupp's result and ask questions about some other good runners who had more confusing results? What happened to Brogan Austin (51st, 49:49)and Morgan Pearson (82nd, 54:36)? Splits say 14:28 for Pearson (with the leaders) and 14:36 for Austin at 5k. 10:54 last mile for Pearson. Is he okay? Based on social media (always an accurate depiction of reality) it seems like training has been going well for both and they had legit intentions of racing here.
